500 issue with firing cycle

Just received brand new 500 from buds and put less than 10 rounds through on Saturday. I'm looking at it last night and notice that pulling hammer back, as for SA shooting, the hammer won't catch at all. Try DA and the hammer won't go full travel, then release. It just goes back with trigger pull and follows the trigger back down without ever fully releasing.

It certainly ought to be a warranty issue, but I thought I'd check here first to see if I've done something silly.

Don't even mess with it, it's a brand new gun. Call S&W they will send you a shipping label and fix it under their warrantee. I know it stinks but sometimes they screw things up...
