I have a new 500 magnum thats straight from the factory that has a notchy trigger it's smooth all the way while pulling it back but rite before it locks cocked it's like it hits a bump then it takes more pressure to push it all the way cocked. What would be my best option send it back to the factory and let them deal with it? I know it's not just me because i had a prior 500 that i sold to buy this one and the trigger was smooth all the way untill it locked into the cocked position

Call Smith, get a shipping label and send it back to Smith.

I wouldn't mess with the trigger on a new gun.

Sounds like the ratchets are too long. Once the cylinder stop locks the cylinder, the hand keeps trying to rotate the ratchets. The way to test this, open the cylinder all the way out, pull back on the cylinder release, and pull the trigger. If it's smooth all the way through it's a timing issue. Options to fix this would be fit each ratchet individually (toughest), thin the hand (easier), or depending how bad it is it will probably wear in with use (easiest). S&W may fix this on their dime, or they might be as likely to not since technically it still functions.
