I just joined this site and have a question.I have a PC 6 1/2" 500 great pistol. I bought this pistol used it came with two compensators and I can't remove it, it has the one on it for lead and that's what I use. The reason for removal is I get pieces of lead or powder hitting me in the face once in awhile. It is hitting me hard enough to bleed. I thought about shooting without the compensator is that a good idea? I was on cast boolits site and they have a blank compensator to help the problem of gunk in the face. Most of there compensators have an Allen screw to hold compensator on mine doesn't. Thanks for any help. Bill

My 4" snub 500 has an Allen screw that holds it in from the front

Thanks, that's the thread I seen at cast boolits, my problem is I can't get my compensator off. I got the compensator off the barrel but the threaded end that goes in the barrel came out. I am not sure but I think John Ross used the barrel nut to attach to this thread part to set the barrel back. I'm not sure on this. Thanks Bill
