Well I was lucky this past weekend and picked up a gun I really like. I was at a gun show and was talking with a gentleman and I inquired about the gun case he had and he indicated he was selling a S&W 357 snub nose. Thinking it was probably a 19, I asked to see it. Well as the title says it was a 586 with a 2.5 inch barrel... I asked him how much and he indicated $450... I thought that was fair and after talking for a few minutes bought the pistol. Little did either of us know how hard these are to find... I did not know till a short time later when I looked them up in the SCSW book and looked here online... I know it is worth more than I paid for it and it is in good shape but I am going to carry and shoot it anyway... :) I love the look and feel of it in my hand. Now I just have to wait for a day that is not raining so I can shoot it... I do not believe I will ever sell this one.

Any idea what these are bringing now?

That's one beautiful gun. I don't believe I have laid my eyes on a 586 snubby. The grips alone are worth about $150, if not more. You did very well on that purchase. I have a 686 2.5 that is very accurate and fun to shoot. Enjoy.:D

No idea. I've never seen one. I really like it!

I could not wait for a sunny day to shoot this thing... ran in the backyard and ran off a few... Shoots great... 10 yards

357 case for size comparison.... and few rain drops on the target

What a score. Probably worth triple the price that you payed. Actually it is such a rare piece maybe a lot more than that.

Very nice. I have a 3" and would love to add a 2 1/2". I have a 2 1/2" 686 but am partial to blue.;)

Absolutely awesome! I would of snatched it up for that price in a second. I am very jealous not because of the rarity but because it is just awesome. Congrats.

Not a Brazil gun..............

According to the "Book" it is a Brazilian Export, Product Code 103500, made in 1993 and "158 shipped to U.S. distributors". What a find.:D:D

Don't think so. Given that he said it was a .357 snub, it's not one of the Brazil guns which were chambered in 38 Special.

The M586 was made in .357 Mag and 2 1/2" barrel, most were ordered by RSR from what I recall, scarce no doubt, but not as scarce as the Brazil models.... All are cool for sure, in either chambering.
