I just got my 586-3 4" matte finish out of lay away. The rear sight blade was slightly bent. After doing some research, I ordered a .146 rear sight blade kit. However, when comparing the current rear sight blade, the current rear sight blade appears to be a .160.
I have not shot the revolver yet. I had a 4" model 66 no dash where it would shoot high with 158gr loads with the rear sight all the way down. I believe that revolver had a .146 height sight blade. I took notice there still is some room the the elevation to move down with the current .160 blade.
Is the .146 the stock rear height? Also, does the .160 height blade allow for more adjustability when shooting both 125 and 158gr loads, or is one height better suited for one loading? If I did end up needing the .160 height blade, I was thinking of getting the Weigand rear target blade.
Thanks.
