I love the 586's.

This is a great looking gun, but I am not too sure I could handle adjustable front & rear sights. Being a proverbial tinkerer, I fear I would spent more time at the range adjusting and tinkering instead of shooting. Of course it would delay the fact that it was my shooting that was the problem and not the sights.

They are great for setting up for shooting at longer distances. Before I got a custom gun used one in PPC matches in the 80's.

Those old silhouette front sites were interesting gizmos ,
The new interchangeable front site system is not as quick on the fly and requires different pieces be dropped in but allows for quick change of front blade style and is a little more streamlined with slightly less moving parts.

Very good-looking gun.

Historically, that gun bookmarks the end of the era of popular precision revolver shooting.

The hard-holder revolver shooters are now getting quite up there in years.

I still have the original grips. Those were made by John Culina. He is known as Kurac on here. They are Cocobolo.

Twenty years or more ago we had a little indoor PPC league at a local range. My shooting partner had a six inch 686 with the four-position front sight to which he added a slip-on weight on the underlug. He campaigned it quite successfully for several years and thought very highly of it. A little too heavy for my taste, though.
