586 Rear Sight

Does anyone know where I can find an older rear sight for the 586. I have been unable to find one. I have been told that the current rear sights have the screw hole drilled in a different place. Thanks in advance.

I have seen some on E-bay recently.....pretty pricey though. Be sure to check the pictures they provide and verify the location of the hole in the tang is in the correct location prior to buying.

Yes, the newer sight is different. The extension in front of the sight itself is shorter and the very end is rounded. Watch out and make sure you get the right one.

The new one is differrent and the old one has mounting holes in different locations for N frame and K frames, and they moved the mounting hole around 1968 so there are several variations of both.
The problem is compounded when you consider the 28 has 2 variants and snub 66/19/15 have a different length versions as well.
