I finally ran across a 5906 that I couldn't pass up. The price was right, condition is excellent, and the only downside I can see is no original box.

Put it on layaway so I'll post pics once I pick it up. Adjustable sights, rounded backstrap. It is the perfect companion to my Camp 9 that I had always been looking for. Depending on how she does with it, I'm thinking that the 5906 / Camp 9 combo with interchangable mags will be the perfect setup for said wife.

Still would like 5926 and 5904 eventually as the S&W 3rd gen sickness runs deep.

:D You will find that is one unbelievable tack driver. I had mine at the range today. My wife was literally tearing the center out of her 10 ring at 25'. She likes it as much as I do. Congratulations.:)

Grip question

I recently picked up a beautiful 5906, old cop gun. My issue is that it has after market Hogue grips on it that are way too big for my hand. I want to purchase the original factory grips but can not find them anywhere. can any of you people help me out?

I have talked to the people at S&W a few different times and they have nothing. They directed me to a couple of different web sites but nothing there either. eBay is always an option but again, I have found nothing other than the Hogues I currently have. I went to a flea market today and purchased a pair the guy claimed would fit but they were for a compact version AND I broke the silly things trying to put them on...lol, out $10. I wouldn't mind the Hougues if they were thinner.

@lawman90...thanks a bunch!!! Will be ordering them soon.

Better not wait long, they go in and out of stock at Midway too.

I also recently bought a 5906 from CDNN and hated the Hogue grips. Midway at the time only had the straight S&W grips in stock so I got those and liked them. Then when the curved grips came back in stock I got those as well and they are by far the best for me. If you're not sure which to get I'd recommend the curved.

Thanx also to @Lawman90... I just purchased a 5906 at a gun show today and it needed grips (some wear and looked a little shoddy...)
Haven't shot it yet, but will get to the range tomorrow and check it out. Seems like a nice solid piece.

The 5906 is on the top of my list right now, and I will make sure it has the straight grips when it's all said and done. I just find it more comfortable and pleasing to the eye. That and it'll match the other Smiths I have. :D

My luck...Midway will be out of stock...lol. The rear sights on mine were really worn so I bought a back set from S&W, haven't put them on yet but will as soon as I get a bore sight. Also, I was in a gun shop in Illinois today and they have 3 different models, 2 used and 1 new in 45 and 10mm...debating on buying all three next week. Prices are very decent and the staff is awesome in letting you "fondle" them..:-)

5906 - acquired!

Could wait no longer and make the pickup from layaway. Now I'm really glad I held out. Nary a scuff, scratch or mark of wear.

the 5900 series (and 910-915's) are made to handle 124gr+P ammo however I've always installed +2 lb over factory recoil springs with good results, even factory standard loads cycle well.
the Marlin Camp 9 is definitely going to need heavier recoil spring installed. 16.5lb is in mine and keeps +P load battering down. recommend also a new buffer blackjack is better than factory (cheaper too) and if you can find it a new (just in case) hammer strut bridge.
you might want to check 'marlinowners.com' (is that allowed here? if not delete) for good Camp gun tips. SWMBO will be pleased with this carbine
I have owned several '06 in the past now have an '04 I have a 'gift' for
service and some repair of these fine pistols they are built to withstand a-bomb.

Congrats!
I love my square trigger guard 5906.
