Has anyone tried rechambering a 5906 barrel to 357 Sig or am I going to have to be the mad scientist to try it?

I haven't tried the 357 Sig but I have rechambered a couple of barrels to 356 TSW for a local customer that has a lot of ammo in that caliber. The only thing I can think of that will need to be addressed is that the breach face in the slide will also have to be opened up to accept the larger case head of the 357 Sig. Let me know how it works out for you.

Reread your post and deleted my brain-dead response Is the intention to put the barrel in a 4006 and will that fit?

Ok, talked further with Van at Gunworks(he didn't realive it was me, he's helped me a lot with my experiments) I think were gonna use a 4006 slide and fit it to the 5906 frame. Project hopefully will start on Monday. I'll keep everyone posted.

presspics- is Bar-sto making S&W barrels again? I know for a while there they were not.

They still have the ability to make the S&W barrels. I suspect that it would require a quantity purchase to make them spool up again. Maybe you could organize a group buy and make it worth their while?

Due to breech face size and magazine considerations , your better off using a 40XX series , then all you would need to do is find the appropriate barrel .

Just wondering if any one else is interested, I am interested in a group buy of 357 Sig Barrels for a 4006.

I'd be interested in a 357 Sig barrel. I have a spare 4046 sitting in the safe that I could rechamber if I could get my hands on such a barrel.
