Just picked this up, serial N445XXX indicates between 72-77 build date, all I know is the finish is 100% and it barely has a distinguishable turn line.
First 27 for me, but I can certainly understand why they were the Pythons nemesis.
I have 3 of the new Pythons and I'm gonna say this one edges them out as far as the trigger goes.

Congratulations- can't do any better than that.
But, have you noticed just how easy & nice the hammer & trigger are to manipulate/operate?
Those .500" wide Target Hammer & Target Trigger are the cats meow
Not ro mention those Tigerwood Stocks

Yes I have, the Python triggers on the new ones are amazing, but this trigger is just that much better because it doesn't stack like the Python's. And that single action, wow, just barely touch the trigger and bang! The pictures don't do it justice, it's truly a brand new finish and after really inspecting it in bright light, I don't think it was ever shot? Zero burn, carbon or any residue whatsoever and that's just impossible to completely get 100% off after being shot. I know I won't be the first to shoot it, so on the gun wall it goes. lol
So, these are Tigerwood stocks, good to know, they sure are gorgeous.

Very Nice Pickup! For curiosity, I see some red on your front sight, but can’t see it well enough to tell what it is. Is it just paint or something else?

Why yes it is, just noticed it being paint myself because it scratches off very easily, I looked and noticed the partridge sights were just black on this gun on originals. It's gone now.

Actually you would not be the first to fire that 357. S&W always test fires their revolvers before shipping them. If there is no carbon on the face of the cylinder, someone polished it off.

Very nice 27-2 example.

The left grip panel has some chipping on the checkering border that's covered with polyurethane. What's that in the center of the cutout. Right panel same border chips. Mismatched. To much shine.
I see what you're talking about, but I can tell the grips have never been refinished.
The shine is from two coats of Ren wax I applied and buffed.
If the grips had been refinished, the cut edges and checkering would definitely show tell-tale signs of being sanded, but the edges are too crisp and the checkering is still freshly cut looking without any rounding of the diamonds.
Sorta like refinishing a watch case, the edges always give it away.

I agree, but there is no way to clean 100% of every little spec off a previously fired gun either.
Unless of course you completely disassemble it and clean each part individually, which is possible?
