610 IS Back !!

The out of state gun shop FINALLY shipped my 610. It should be at my LGS in Oklahoma Monday, and then to my range when it is transferred to me.

Oh, happy days!!

I am glad S&W brought back the 610 yet again. Wish they would just make it a permanent offering already.

If you need additional moon clips, buying direct from Ranch Products is the best way I've found. MidwayUSA is constantly out of stock and TK Custom's prices are too high.

I was somewhat annoyed to see they went for another run of the 610. This will no doubt lower the value of my 610-3, 3 and 7/8" with the unfluted cylinder. I would have liked to have seen them do an L-frame version similar to the 69. I have no opinion on that hollowed out firing pin. My original solid pin chipped at the tip. I replaced it with an Apex pin, and never had another issue. For folks new to the 610 moon clips............you do not need a tool to load and unload. Easily done with your fingers.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that my 610 arrived today and I believe it will be a great shooter. This is a gun that I have wanted for nearly 30 years, and I finally have it.

As for the tool, I disagree. I have strong hands and I find that a loading tool makes loading and unloading the moon clips a heck of a lot easier.

I don't care if my 6 1/2" 610 has gone down in Auction site value now that the revolvers are available again. I did not buy my 610 to sell it and I have no intention of selling it during my lifetime.

I am thrilled that I can now add a 4" 610 to my family without having to sacrifice the kids college fund :)

I have never needed a tool to load a moon clip, any moon clip and I have many different revolvers that use them.

However having one of the nut driver style tools makes de-moonong a pleasure. Actually I made my own so that the brass can slide right through the hand tool and into the waiting bucket on the floor

100 rds on clips, all ready for the range visit :)

New School S&W 610-3 10mm

After seeing bluedot37's and iouri's 610's, why care about
the Earlier production 610's and High Prices.

I may have to re-evaluate my Post above. The 10mm and
Moon-clip thingy thing would be something different for me.
The price would be very reasonable too!

Now S&W needs to bring back the MOUNTAIN GUNS.
Maybe one in 10mm Moon-clip thingy's.

Thanks for the Great Pictures.

I now need to Collect a Set of Lee Dies in 10mm.

Stopped by the LGS, where I bought my 4" at, to pick-up some primers & powder. Told them I had just come from the range & that I was really happy with how the 610 shot.

They then proceeded to tell me they just got a 6-1/2" bbl. M610-3 in & showed it to me. It's lock-up was good but the B-C looked a little wide. With it's longer barrel it was noticeably heavier, of course. For hunting or long range shooting it'd be great.

I'm still happy with the 4" for me though. :)

What is the height of your front sight on that? I think my older -3 might need a red ramp.

Let's see; iouri left the factory grips on, blue dot has the Hogues, while I on the other hand, put Pachmayr Compac's on mine.

We're all gentlemen of elegance and refined taste, it seems.

As soon as I figure out how, I'll post a picture.
