617 Picture Thread

What did that start out as?

A 617. That's a custom lightweight barrel to aid in rapid target transitions when shooting static steel. Before you pooh-pooh it, you should know the owner is a USPSA Master Class revolver shooter in USPSA. He can make that puppy sing. Ugly? Yes. Functional? Very.

Adios,

Pizza Bob

No poo-poo'ing coming from this corner.
Just never seen anything like it before.
Very unique!

Thanks for the kind words Bob.

I like the to think that the gun is " so ugly it's cute "

Kframe, Pizzabob hit the nails on the head.

It started out as a 4 inch 617, The barrel is a custom build out of a barrel blank. With the addition of an apex hammer, houge grips, and c-more red dot.

The gun is very light.

Edit: Here is an updated picture with an addition of a lightweight aluminum cylinder, shaved a few more ounces off the weight of the gun.

Wow, I bet that's a featherweight now!
Pretty much the opposite of some of those 1970's PPC guns with the oversized barrels and weights.
Fun to see the variations tailored to the end use.
:)

This is a terrific thread with many great pics of a terrific gun. It's not just the beauty of the 617 it is also their functionality that makes them awesome. Here is a pic of my first time out with mine, the target on the left was shot in single action and the right was shot at in double action:

As you can see I needed to work on my double action shooting:o but the center of the single action target took a beating with a nice ragged hole. Not bad for my first time out with my 617, I do even better now and I 'll post some pics another time of a target I have beaten up.
Here are a few more pics of my stainless steel beauty:
