Hi all,

I picked this one up off of the big auction site recently with the goal of using it in our local Bullseye matches. It's pretty heavy with the sight though...

I tested it out at 50 yards from a sand bag rest this weekend. I'm going to go with 4.0 grains Bullseye and SNS coated 200 grain SWC. The coated are plenty accurate and easier / cleaner.

Here's the Honolulu public range with 25 and 50 yard lines.

I forgot to note the powder charge on these targets is 4.0 Bullseye.

Those coated SNS bullets have been quite good for me as well. Currently most of the 200gn SWC .45 bullets I have are of the "no lube groove" variety, which may be an SNS exclusive. Their weight variances have been low, with very few outright rejects. Same goes for visual inspection. The lack of the lube groove does change the bullet shape somewhat, mostly in having a longer nose, so the seating die required a small adjustment.

Still on the fence about the UltraDot sight. Whilst popular for Bullseye out to 50yds, we've had some dramas with repeatability due to the continuous elevation changes needed for shots at 25, 50, 75 and 100 yards. (I haven't much tried it at 150 and 200m on the IHMSA Big Bore range, and don't remember if anyone else has done so, locally.)

Shooting that set-up one handed does seem to be pushing the weight limit, especially for 50 yd slow fire!

My 625-8 JM Special (4") and the 625-6 (5") I recently gifted my youngest son, have been two of the most satisfying revolvers I have ever owned. My favored load for target work is 4.0 grs. of Bullseye or equivalent behind a H&G #68 (Mihec clone). I use Red Dot sights almost exclusively.

Here is the 625-6 Model of 1989:

Nice! Enjoy it!

I always thought that there was something visually very cool about these big N framed 45 ACP's . Especially when paired with an optic and piled up with loaded moon clips .

BTW, Mine likes 200 SWC too.

Nice pistol! I'm personally still on the look-out for a 625-6 to add to my 45acp revolver collection. Maybe some day. :)

Acme Bullets has quit a few coated NLG bullets now too.

I haven't tried these but they have the 200gr coated SWC-NLG.

Their bullets that I have tried were good shooters.

Groo here
Now that you got some groups, kick the charge up to 5 gr Bullseye.
It will kick more but go faster and burn better.
PS, 5gr bullseye is the WW2 load with a 230gr FMJ bullet.
It is still no more that "normal" pressure for a 200gr cast bullet.
