625 45acp short barrel ?

I have had a 325NG for about 5 weeks and really like shooting it. What I would like to find is 2.5 or 3 inch steel frame 45 acp. S&W's web site doesn't show one. My question is did smith make a short barrel steel 45acp? I think I know what I am saying hope every one else does.

yes they made a 625 3" 45acp gun, they sell for around 1000+

I bought a 2" barrel from Numrich and had it installed on my 625-4. It worked out very well and I'm quite pleased with it. It didn't cost as much as I thought it would, though my gunsmith isn't too eager to do another one of these any time soon.

I have one of those Numrich barrels and believe they were intended for the lightweight fixed-sight Performance Center revolvers (625-10, for example). Did you have to have a special front sight mounted to make use of the adjustable rear sight on your 625-4?

I bought the barrel because I thought I would someday come across a 1917 or Brazilian that was sound but for a bad barrel. I was going to make a two-tone belly gun. But then a few days ago I stumbled across a 625-3 at my LGS and committed to that. I'm not giving up on the project, but the urgency has certainly been reduced.

I don't think you are necessarily in four-digit territory if you want to pick up (or build) a three-inch 625. While the three-inch 625-3s are in demand and seldom seen, they are not flat-out rare. I picked up one recently when I stumbled across it at my LGS. It needed a bit of attention (action was unlubricated and there was a little carbon grime in the nooks and crannies), but in general it was obviously little fired and still had its original box. The asking price was $900, but I got it out the door for less than that, including tax and the California transfer fee. If this gun can be had at that price in CA, I have to believe that even better deals can be found in other states.

The message is: Take heart, and don't stop looking. You will find what you want.

Those are the LONG barrel snubbies

The short ones are 2"

However the factory ones were fixed sight and Scandium frames

They were made in 45ACP and 45Colt

When these were in production, I bought 5 extra barrels so I could build up a few
on stainless adjustable sight 625s

Just have not done it yet

This is true - a buddy of mine that loved my 625 3" found one recently at a local gun show for $600.00, so good deals can be found.

That and the 624. I don't have a problem with the locks but scandium belongs in a MIG-29, not a revolver.
