625

Cherokee1,

The 625 JM was my first 45 revolver. I could not believe how great it was to shoot. But be forewarned that if you do buy this gun you won't be satisfied with just one. :D

The first photo left to right, top to bottom:
1917; 25-12; 25-2; 625 JM; I don't know how those Kimbers got in there

Second photo:
Lew Horton 25-14 in blue and nickel.

I'm in the same situation as you Cherokee. However, the lock is not something I really don't want and am looking at some earlier 625's w/o one, and even at some model 25's also. Tough choice for me. But as others have said buy it now and you won't regret it

Toad67 there is a 625-3 4" on GB with 8 days left in case you want to take a look.

I lucked into a safe queen 625-2 5" ( I dont think there are any 6") with factory combats on Easter morning on an unrelated to S&W gun forum. Only thing is I'm going to sell the combats because they don't fit my hands & I'll never sell the gun.

Cherokee1,
No experience with the JM, but I have a Performance Center 625-7 5" that has the best trigger of any revolver I own. It is a real pleasure to shoot. I also have a standard 625-8 4" and two 25-2's (6" & 6.5").

You are doing it right - save up for it. Get a part time job, sell scrap metal, fix the car yourself instead of paying someone else. Do what you gotta do but don't go into debt to buy toys. They are expensive enough without paying 18% interest on them!

I'll sell you mine!

Shot mine in IDPA. Has had action work so it will bust only Fed primers. Had a fiber optic front sight made for it. So I never used original JM front sight or grips. Have all the speed loaders, mooner, de-mooner, full moon clips.

Herb I wish I had the money I would buy it. If you want you can send it to me and we can arrange payments.:)

well I did it I dipped into the saving fund and ordered one it is supposed to be in tomorrow at my LGS. ordered it from oak hills guns in Pa. cant wait. the wife was shocked but I told her to find something she wants. told her it is my wedding anniversary present to go find what she wants. will be 43 years next month. happy happy!

It finally got here Friday. Shot it Saturday. When I first picked it up I thought oh no these grips are slick. But when you are shooting they don't slip at all they seem to get tacky but I don't mean the finish turns gooy or anything they just stick to your hands. After more than sixty rounds a had to quit. The heat and humidity not to mention the mosquitos got very bad. Not to mention loading and unloading all those moon clips with no tool. Got clips and loader on the way. Love it. It shoots better than I can with my 66 year old eyes.

Happy anniversary. Now we need to see a pic or two of your new range gun !
