So long story short....

When I was still in the military, I asked my pop to get me a 627PC when they first came out. Have had it for some time now, but it doesnt match up with anything I have seen online. So, whats the word? is it just an uncommon version or something?

It appears to me to be a standard PC627. Of course it is Pre-Lock. Wish I had 1 like it! Desirable gun in my book!
The closest I can get it my Pro Series, 686-6 5". It is a 7 shot L frame. Yours is a N frame. Take it out and SHOOT it! Bob

You have the less common version with the unfluted cylinder. Most were shipped with fluted cylinders. I am away from my information, so can't tell you much more. I think I have only seen one for sale, while I have seen a number of fluted cylinders versions for sale. The fluted cylinder guns shoot extremely well, so I would expect the unfluted cylinder model to shoot great, too!

Wow!! Fine 627 my man. I have a much newer one and would love to have yours. If it matters, mine is the most accurate handgun I currently own, and I own some decent handguns but my 627PC 5" model is just better, well, a bit more accurate.

I really like an unfluted cylinder on jist about any revolver and this one is no different.

Thanks for the information everyone.

Yeah, I still remember back in late 97-98 flipping through a copy of some gun rag...and this being the headlining article. Living in the barracks however, and not being able to do any purchasing, I called up the old man and he got it for me. Of course, the unfluted cylinder was a complete shocker when I finally got my hands on the smith. And being told the infamous "yeah, the guy at the shop mixed up the order...but we got something extra special for the same price!" But despite the old man's exaggerations, I had never seen this version pop up on gunbroker...be mentioned in forums...or even any pic's online. And of course, this made me actually wonder "Is this rare? Or is it just some odd-ball variant.
