Came across a 629-4 44 magnum hunter plus with a 7.5" barrel. What is the significance of the RSR Group/prefix marked ones of this model? I have heard of less than 500 being made, but I also have seen what appears to be the identical gun but with a non RSR serial prefix?

Thanks

I'm not sure how many were made, or for who, but I have two. One is Birdsong black with serial number starting with DEL, it is not ported. The other is plain stainless with Magna Port slots and MMH serial prefix.

Both are great shooting guns. I really like the balance of the barrel profile.

A couple of days ago there were two on Gunbroker, one the Birdsong finish and the other was the one with scope and no sights. I really, really like both of mine!!

RSR is a distributor like Lew Horton, Camfour, Lipsey's etc. The gun you're describing was also made for Lew Horton IIRC. There were several variations of the slab sided barrel PC. I tried to chase the one you have but the prices were getting astronomical. I was fortunate enough to get my hands on two variations of your gun, maybe even on the rarer side. One is the 629-6 two tone Magnum Hunter Plus, one of 100 made for Lipsey's and the other, a 629-4 Master Hunter Scope Only gun which I have no background scoop on. I was told it was one of 200 FWIW.

Thanks for the replies. I really like the scope only version, wish I came across that one instead.
