Price depends on how badly the buyer wants it . There's one NIB here in Florida for a thousand bucks but no buyers . I think the main reason is the seller flat out refuses to ship . FTF only .
Too far for me to drive .

Once or twice a week theresa and I do a 100 mile round trip to do lunch!

I put one on Auction Arms last year with no box or papers and it fetched $1025. These are highly sought after revolvers up to the 66-4 which happens to be my personal favorite 3" version. If you put yours on an auction site I think you will be very happy with what it brings.

It WILL sell on an auction site for 1K and maybe more. Have a -2 and would not take 1500.00 for it. Paid 275.00 with shipping and FFL fees back in 85. Best handling revolver S&W has ever made IMO. Darn shame the prices soared on them as I use to carry it all the time back in 85-90 as its super accurate and a delight to carry. Just couldn't justify carrying it as a SD weapon in case it ends up in the evidence vault.

Swapped over to a 1911 platform in 1990 as I've been carrying and packing one since 78 when I first qualified on them in boot camp. Hated it when we went to the M-9's!

Have a 2.5" -2 and it's a great gun but the 3" is the cream of the crop. I use the 2.5" when I need deeper concealment than my Commander can give. Still feel very well armed with it and 2 speedloaders stoked with 135 gr. Speer Gold Dots .38+p's. Did carry magnums in it but the ballistics of the +P's are impressive and make for faster, more acurate shots. http://www.speer-ammo.com/products/short_brl.aspx

IF you can score one for under 1000.00 you're doing good if it has the box and fixins. I'd buy it as they are highly desirable and super accurate revolvers and will only continue to go up in price. The new S&W models are priced as high or not higher as these beauties.

Well,
There have been 2 that have sold on this forum like new on box for 800 and the other was 775 I beleive. I also seen a couple go for under 800.00 on auction arms recently and on a local auction site. As far as the people saying ti will bring 1,000, I highly doubt it , maybe if it was a ashland gun or pre lock f-comp.

Steve,
I'd put in in the classifieds here first, if no one buys it then put it on an auction site where it will surely sell.
