I picked up a pretty nice '93 production Silhouette the other day and noticed some proof marks. After several days of searching I've not been very successful in deciphering them. I believe the cannon ball looking mark identifies it as a DOD (mil exchange) import, but no luck on the others. Help is much appreciated.

Thanks for the welcome and info. I would agree with you about Belgium. Any info on the N that's underlined or the Star/Y?

Hello PortDawg

1. Prost :) ! ...+ Thanks for your kindly words

2-5. The (year of the) "proof date" on the weapon can differ from the year of production.
Example: M 29-2, SN# 49 77 XX = +/- 1978
C.I.P. proofed in Germany (DE), "N under eagle" = Normal- (Nitro-)proof in "BB" = (20)11
in (the "antler") the proofhouse Ulm Beschussamt Ulm - Staatliche Stelle f"ur Beschusswesen und Sicherheitstechnik

Of course it's impossible to put some proof-stamps on in 1989 ("in advance" ??) on a then
non-existent weapon. So perhaps best, to start a new thread (with pictures, we all like pictures):
"Date of birth of M 686-3 SN # ..."

P.44
By the way (No idea if needed, but can't hurt anything)
29-3 Classic Hunter front sight
