I picked up a PSA 686 plus 3-5-7 edition this week. Kind of a disappointment to be honest. First the grip screw was buggered up (on a new in box revolver). I have never seen this in over 40 years of buying new firearms, even from budget gun companies.
Then the cylinder has several very fine scratches, again as it came from the box. Finally, there is a really odd-looking scuff down the right side of the barrel under lug. It looks like a "chatter" mark that was partly buffed out. Never seen anything like this on a new S&W before.
I probably should have refused delivery of this revolver, but I did not notice the imperfections until I had it home in good light. As I said, this is the most disappointing NIB S&W I have ever purchased. Mechanically it seems OK, and it might shoot lights out for all I know. A brand-new S&W should not have these issues, it really looks more like a blemish gun than a first quality weapon. I do not plan to try and return it, but still disappointing.
