9mm ammo slowly coming back,

Its not getting any better here. Dropped by Cabelas and they had put plastic ammo boxes where the pistol shelf used to be so I looked around and found the pistol shelf was now combined with the rifle shelf but still mostly empty.
ordered some SD ammo via ammoseek a couple weeks back and its all about twice the price now.

My walmarts have had nothing come in for 3 days. Something is up as they were getting a lot of shipments although still limited.

I'm seeing a lot more locally. Around $18/box.

Never had a problem buying it at my local range at around $16/box. You just have to shoot it there though.

Still empty shelves here. Guy at the ammo counter in local Wal*Mart said he hasn't seen .22lr come in for months. I quit going to CTD in 2008 when I saw them triple the prices on ammo within days. They're dead to me.

As I walked through the store to the range today, they had 3 different brands of 9mm, still a 2 box limit but to actually have a choice was a trip down memory lane. :D It felt strange to have to choose which one to buy.

Waiting in a small line for it now at Walmart. First time I've ever seen a line

I'm glad that two years ago I decided to drop the ghetto calibers (9mm and 22lr). I was just bored with them, but looking at ammo prices and availability it looks like I made the right decision. I haven't had any problems finding 357 magnum and 45 ACP.

Cases and cases of Winchester White box:

100 rounds 9mm - $39.95, 50 rounds 40 S&W - 21.95, 50 rounds 45 ACP - $22.95

At Vance's in Columbus and Buckeye Outdoors in Hebron, Ohio.

But I'm with Amazing FJ - it's much, much cheaper from my bench...;)

Vances said they got some back in. I've gotten brass, primer and the tools. Just need to find some bullets and powder.

Today Buckeye had 9mm Hornady XTP 147 and 38/357 XTP 158 at $20/100 if that helps.

Tomorrow is payday but I want to look for some powder and bullets and see if I can load a few before my next farm trip.

22lr

I am not very old, but when I was a kid we used to shoot thousands of .22 at targets and squirrel hunting. Availability and price were never an issue. Something has to give.

You can waste gas and time to wait in line for 2bx of ammo if you want. That's assuming there's any left when you get there.I'll continue to buy online and buy as much as I want.I'm not one of those hoarders that everyone complains about and I don't buy to resell at a profit.I came into this hobby when prices were already high so I can only gain if and when prices drop.I'm just as fine with paying .40-.45 cents for centerfire ammo as I am paying over $3/gal for gas.I don't like it but that's the hand I've been dealt so I live with it.

I find it nice to have several firearms of different calibers.I'm never without being able to take different guns to the range for lack of ammo. The availability of ammo might increase but the prices will never go back to where they used to be just like we'll never see gasoline under $2/gal.

Yeah,Life sucks but either get over it or get left behind.

I don't begrudge CTD - or any distributor - for raising their prices. That's how a free market economy works - if people will buy from them, why shouldn't they charge what the market will bear? Pretty sure that's a tried and true American ideal.

I don't buy from them because they're expensive, but if their prices become competitive again, I'd have no problem shopping with them. It's not personal, it's business.
