9mm carbine

Got the Email this morning from S&W on FPC. Oh yeah finally and look forward to getting one as soon as it's available.

It looks pretty bare bones, so it should be lightweight. I'd pick one up if the price is right

I have been waiting for an M&P15 in 9mm with changeable mag wells for years.
As with my choice of cars I like them to be efficient but looks are also very important,
I just can't own and drive a car I find terrible to look at,
To each his own, but that's gotta be one of the ugliest guns I've seen.

Probably show up in the next Bond movie......With the "new', politically correct, WOK, Bond!

Used to shoot down a Spector spy balloon filled with Carbon Monoxide !!

FWIW PSA is already offering them for about 5% below the S&W site MSRP.
Give it a little time for the price to come down a bit and I'll probably order one...

i've had a few camp 9 carbines over the years and as already been mentioned they take s&w mags and are reliable and fun to shoot.
only problem is they have pretty much dried up so finding one now can be a chore.

Yeah, and if you find one they are higher than a cats back.
I saw one at the gunshow last week - the price tag on it was $995
When I bought mine about 6 years ago I paid $485 including shipping and FFL transfer fee.

This is my 9mm carbine, an Uzi which I've had since 1981. Totally reliable, but I don't like the looks of the longer barrel. I do have to admit it ups the velocity!

They should make one that will take 3rd Gen magazines.

Harumph.

Ruger figured out a way to make adaptors for Glock mags. Shouldn't be that hard to do the same for 5900 series mags. But they won't. 3rd gen's are forgotten by S&W.

Not that I mind too much. I have several M&P's.

The Marlin Camp 9 will take the 5906 mags. I have a companion 5946 to go with the Camp 9, and also bought some Mecgar 20 round 5906 mags to go with it.

The folding carbine would make a good truck gun for road trips however. I may have to get one of the new Smiths, and an M&P to share mags with it now. Once the initial buying frenzy subsidies.

It took a couple of years but S&W came out with a PPC pretty close to what I want.

For some reason S&W doesn't list weights on their website anymore but other sources say it is 5 pounds, quite a bit lighter than the Ruger I had.

Its foldable but unlike the Keltec folds sideways so its optics friendly. I am going to wait until I see some reviews but if it looks like it will be reliable I am going to buy one. That's a significant if though. It seems harder to make a reliable blowback 9mm carbine than it does to make a reliable tilting barrel handgun.

Not into the folding style, but may be fun to shoot.
