During my active shooting years I had little interest in wheel guns. And now that i,m not competitive due to that upper middle age shake, I am discovering an appreciation for Smiths..

I am basically having to educate myself on the subject and today's question has to do with rimless cases.

How does this work? Do they use clips? What do they look like, if I bought a 929 would it come with clips or is that an extra purchase?

In other words I know nothing, educate me.

Thanks
Rich

Ok, I just found couple YouTube's that answer some of my questions.

The current 929 and 986 use moon clips, as did the J frame 940 in 9 mm. They were sold with a few (three?) clips. The model 547 has a special extractor that retains and removes cases without clips.

With lower pressure rounds and no clips, the empties will sometimes fall out with gravity. Some type of rod can be used to push them out if not.

I bought a new 929 a couple weeks ago. It is so accurate and a joy to shoot. It comes with 3 TK Customs moonclips. I bought 10 more from TK and I also bought 10 polymer clips from Rimz. These you can load and unload without tools. I am fixing to get another 10. Get one, you will like it.

So. Ow I got this idea, I have a nice model 12 trap gun I never shoot. I could sell it buy the 929,,,,,,,,,,
