Red,
My boss asked me today if I found out anything on this forum about the holster he gave me . I actually told him what you said about the holster a few weeks ago but I guess he forgot. I also mentioned the maker made holsters for the Texas Rangers...Without even looking up while he was typing on his computer he told me that makes sense because his former father in law was a Texas Ranger. The two photos show the Iver Johnson in and out of the holster. I thought it was a 2.5" but it turns out it's a 3.25". Funny that his father in law gave him such a nice holster with such a mediocre gun but maybe it was his dad's gun.
Great info. Yes, it was a revelation when a group of us ran across the article from early this century, by an old man who had learnt that another old man had invented the holster style expressly for the Rangers. When he was, it appears, 18

I have increased my holding to 12, of the different holster makers (not including its inventor who did not put his name on them; nor the several unmarked versions that are not his construction) in TX who made variations on the theme; apparently for the Rangers scattered 'round the State (the makers were scattered, too). As I've mentioned before, though, there never were very many Rangers. That so many Brills have survived is incredible; I just bought a very tired one myself.
P.S. just noticed you've posted this in two threads; you can delete the other one by clicking on 'edit' there and it will offer you an option to actually delete it (I only learnt this recently).
