Just got these in from a family who think they are worth a lot more than I think they are worth. Story goes that they have been in the family since 1899 and that they are original. The holster were supposedly made in the 1960's. I believe them to be have been nickeled/chromed at that time but the family expert says that it's original nickel. We are trying to get a fair value for estate purposes, The guns are not for sale, the family is placing a value on each estate item and then each member is "buying" from the estate. Needless to say there are various opinions to the value amongst the family members and I am trying to give a fair appraisal of these but I would like some more opionions on this. Thanks for the help.

I don't know what to say--------- I don't think that is right:D.

All kidding aside. Beautiful!!!!!!!!

While I'm no expert, I think they have been re-nickeled. I don't believe if it was original finish that the trigger and hammer would be plated. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable can give you a more definite answer though.

They are refinished. The trigger guard and latch should be blue and the hammer and trigger should be case colored.
They also show heavy buffing around the sideplates.

Definitely refinished. Still they are very attractive DA .44s!
What do you think people? Worth $2K maybe for the pair and the holster?
The grips don't do much for me, I'd replace them.

As Dean said, they are a pair of heavily buffed and refinished to the point of absurbity, then dressed up further with a monstrosity of a Buskadero rig. They have zero value to a collector, but are tops in "flash" appeal. Reminds me of the TV program "Pimp My Ride" This is "Pimp My Guns" Apparently somebody got caught dead with these, so now the family is squabbling over Uncle Bubba's treasures! There's nothing a poor gunshop owner can say that will make everybody happy here ( been there, done that!) -- Best response is they are "too unique to value by mere dollars, so toss a coin to see who gets what!" yup.... lets start the family bidding off at $200....
who'll give me $200...
now $400 ...
now $600...

and if they bring more than a thousand from the family who's worse for the wear.............
