I just ordered a Shield in 9mm with night sights. I'll be trading in my Shield without night sights.

For those who have them, how do you like them? Pros? Cons?

I love the Shield's standard sights, and don't want to lose ground with going to the night sights.

I appreciate your feedback. Thanks!!

If you like the stock sight (3-dot) layout, you'll LOVE the TruGLo TFX HD day/night sights: TRUGLO® | Brite•Site™ TFX™. I got them at a good discount ($106 out-the-door) online from Centerfire Guns in CO. Free shipping/no sales tax. Guns For Sale - Guns for Sale Online | CenterfireGuns

The sights are really great--the fiber optics catch the ambient light during the day and light up great with a distinctive white ring around the front sight--can't miss it day or night. But at night, they light up out of the safe--no matter how long in total darkness--unlike glow-in-the-dark paint, which needs a recharge.

I have those on my Glock 42 and love them. I hesitated putting them on my Shield for reasons having to do with adjustment and accuracy (not to mention slide marring). That's why I just ordered a Shield with the night sights. But thanks anyway!

Still looking for a report from someone who has a Shield with Smith's night sights. Anyone??

You don't have to trade your gun to get night sights. Sights on the Shield are interchangeable. It's got to be cheaper to have new sights installed on your current gun.

There are a lot of the styles of night sights, so you should shop around. I have Trijicon HD sights on both my M&Ps and love them.

+1 but mine comes out of the night stand rather than the safe. I'm always amazed by the bright glow as it comes out of the dark drawer.

Would have been my plan too if not for the 5 young granddaughters and one mentally handicapped son we have that could have access...

...so at night when not being carried, it stays in the biometric safe under the bed on my side with my wife's Ruger for instant access. :)

Got the new Shield last week with factory night sights! They're Trijicon and are great in both the day and night time.

Have you considered a Crimson Trace laser ? You don't have to align your rear and front sight with a C/T . Just put the beam where you want the bullet to go. You do have to sight in the laser however. No big deal at all. YouTube videos are helpful.

As for pics, I am without a smart phone or other way to take and post them. As for lasers, although I think they're fine, I've never been a fan.

I just got one of the Shields w/o safety... w/ night sights, and it came with 3 mags! 1 (7) and 2 (8) rd mags. They are the same brightness as a SIG I have with SIG night sights... The price for the sights and mag were only about $70 more so I went with this option.

This type of night sight seems to be a compromise... the White Dot sights are easier to see in the day than the night sights.. but I feel the compromise is worth it to be able to see them at night.

I looked at the new ported Shield with the fiber optic sights... I do like them... and the FO/Tritium combo sights seems the best of both worlds.. but I've never seen / used them first hand.

With my older eyes, I can see the standard three dot contrast sights better than night sights.

That is the very reason I did my shield like this, see pic's. Front night sight (same height as stock) change only easy to see and very reflective. This set up worked great with stock rear sight. Ameriglo front sight only for Shield paid $55.00 on there sight and installed it myself.

Shoot Safe,
