A Remmington .41 Derringer & A Browning HP

LGS had two interesting guns. A Remington derringer in 40-50% condition with s s/n 300. The second was a Minty Browning Hi Power.

Sorry, the main image is blurry. I wish I had a good image of the serial number which is #300. Maybe tomorrow.





The 2nd is a serious jewel. I'd say that is the mint, mint and more minty level. Sort of like my Colt DS which I got from the same shop. This time it is a Browning Hi Standard 9mm Belgian manufacture. The s/n 76C10300 EDIT: 1976


I have got to stay out of that shop or buy another safe and move further away. They are only three blocks from my house.

So you ask, what did you do? I passed on the derringer and put the Browning on layaway. It is the best I could do.

In that style of Browning serial numbers the 76cxxxx indicates 1976 manufacture date. Dave

In 1969 Browning started using two digits for the date of manufacture which was followed by a four digit code that identified the type of Auto-5:
C=Hi-Power
This was then followed by the serial number beginning with 1000.
Example: 69C1000 = A 1969 Hi-Power pistol with a serial number of 1000.

BTW, Remington used three different company names on those derringers, depending on the time of manufacture. IIRC, the gun was made into the 1930's. Do some research on it and you can figure out it's age. Be easy with it, the hinges were known to break.

You wouldn't want to give the price of the derringer you saw, would ya? I would like to know, cause I don't have a clue what mine is worth.

I saw no completed auctions on GB. His asking price was $700 based on the low s/n. I'd say the value was South of $500.00. Maybe on the Mexican Boarder.

Good choice, a classic pistol (although the Remingtons are cool). I picked up a very nice 1969 C about a month ago, even came with the numbered box. As soon as I finish function-testing some mags I'll put it in the CCW rotation. When it's cleaned up I might even post some pics.
