Fellow Forum Members, especially codenamedave, Gunner99, Kalamazookid, and S&WOldtimer, I owe each of you a very sincere apology regarding my behavior on this website regarding karma drawings.

Recently, the Kalamazookid was kind enough to offer a Triple K holster as a karma opportunity. I did not see any qualifiers or conditions listed for entry with the exception that you needed respond to the thread to be included in the drawing.

S&WOldtimer won this drawing, congratulations, by the way, and I noted member condenamedave submitted a response naming myself and 2 other Forum members along with the line: "Every single giveaway..." This must have struck a cord with other members as Gunner99, Kalamazookid, and S&WOldtimer provided "likes" to his message:

I asked codenamedave to explain his comment, but he has not responded to my request as of this writing.

To all of you, my sincerest apologies. I didn't realize there were rules and/or expectations a member was limited to the number of times he or she was allowed to enter a karma drawing. I thought, in the absence of any qualifying conditions, any Forum member could enter the drawing. I thought the sponsor of the karma drawing was doing so in the spirit of giving, and the hope that those that entered, and especially the winner of the drawing would have a bit of fun.

I've been a member on this Forum for 11 years now, and I am ashamed not only for my social gaffe here, but the fact that I assumed I had developed a strong enough relationship with the Forum members here that someone would have pointed out to me that I was crossing a line prior to someone else having to point this out to me.

Frankly, I've never worried about who, or how often Forum members enter in karma drawings as I figure it's none of my business.

In the hope of helping other Forum members avoid the embarrassment of breaking the rules of entering karma drawings, I would ask those that know of these rules to please post them for all to see.

Again, to all Forum members I have offended, my sincerest apologies for my behavior.

To codenamedave, Gunner99, Kalamazookid and S&WOldtimer - thank you for calling me on my behavior. Rest assured I've learned my lesson and you won't see me entering any future karma drawings.

Regards,

Dave

Looking back at the original thread, the only thing you (and the other members quoted in the post in question) did "wrong" was that you tried to enter the drawing after the winner had been chosen.

I wouldn't worry about it, and an apology definitely wasn't necessary.
You keep entering drawings if you want.

If you enter on time, you might even win one! ;) :D

Yeah, I took the "every single drawing" comment as a wry observation that for every karma there are some folks who are late to the party and enter their name AFTER the deadline.
I think the winky ;) smilie maybe should have been added, and without it, you misinterpreted the comment....

It does happen all the time, not just here but on other forums. It's not a hangin' offense. Member enters a Karma or giveaway that looks interesting, and that has three or four pages of responses, and posts his entry without reading to the end. If the OP hasn't gotten around to modifying the thread title your entry shows up as a straggler.

"Every single giveaway..." is hyperbole, but contains a germ of truth. I'd bet codenamedave was commenting on that phenomenon, and meant nothing personal about your participation.

I don't think it had anything to do with how many karmas a person tries to win. If it did, there would be a great big list of names. As already pointed out, it was more about being a Johnny-come-lately.

The only reason I haven't tried winning every single one is that sometimes I have no need for the item offered. The karmas I do enter, I feel no guilt about entering. If I were you, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

I really wanted that holster, though!
