My friends, I sincerely apologize for my recent absence from the forum. My computer went belly up, and I am wrestling with a new one in spite of the fact that all my passwords are now sadly kaput.

Bear with me - hope to be back in action soon.

I fully understand. When the forum shut down for the software upgrade I considered calling a support hotline. Several members called me doing wellness checks.

Joni Mitchell was right in that we don't know what we've got til it's gone.

Ready, aim, post.
 
Look forward to hearing from you again. I wouldn’t begin to know where to get started with a new PC. I can get into enough trouble and spend enough money with my iPad. :o

When I was “no longer employed,” my plan included having no computer sitting around and no cell phone. I’ve been about 50% successful. :rolleyes:
 
Thanks for the update, John. Always enjoy your posts, your photography, and your knowledge of classic firearms. (As a martini man, I do question your affection for manhattans, but each of us should be allowed an occasional eccentricity.)

I always keep a document file with all my passwords in it.

Just last week I thought to myself...self a lot of good it would do you if your drive crashed.

I printed them out, four pages worth!

Even more glad to learn that your absence was due to a technology issue, rather than an "expiration date" issue! :)

I had the same thing happen to my computer a few weeks ago when Microsoft did an update on my Windows 10 system. I lost most of my data, addresses, documents, etc. I do have a backup system, but that didn't help this time.


I had to reinstall Win 10 and had to start from scratch to install my programs. What a pain.
