A small request please....

Here on the forum, I have handejector for correctness, and wording. My misspelling he seems to over look, but when the subject cannot be misunderstood.....WELL......

He seems to show up when I say something really wrong.

The thing that drives me nuts is when I have nearly completed a long and brilliant post, I apparently hit some combination of keys that deletes the whole thing.

Knowing I will not be able to duplicate what was lost, I usually just go on to something else......:(

LOL!! Been there done that.

Especially when it includes pictures.

Along these lines, Perhaps correct spelling should be added to the Rules and Terms, if a Mod has to correct spelling or grammar, then assign Points (aka Dings) That would get rid of all the slackers!
WE aim for Putzer Prize material!!

All I know is, if some of you southern folks write like you talk, some up in the northern parts find it hard to understand you. Twang!!!! How is that to be interpreted?

Now those from New York, that's a whole different story.

Fortunately the grammar nazis have disappeared but something else is becoming annoying at least to me.

All too often I'm trying to read either a post or the comments and words are missing throughout what someone types. I'm not perfect with my grammar or punctuation but I at least try to make complete sentences that make sense.

It only takes a minute to proof read your post before hitting the "enter " button and makes your post more enjoyable to read.

After not so careful review of some of your recent posts, there seems to be some lack of punctuation, run on sentences and failure to space after a period and the beginning of a new sentence.:D;):p

My feeble mind still moves much faster than my feeble fingers.

I find find myself rethinking while typing and end up with a a lot of double words.

There times even after proofing I don't catch them all!
I'll sometimes skip words to get my thoughts down. Then I'll go back and fill in the blanks. Sometimes I'll miss some of the blanks.

And I live in a small town in a hollow in the West Virginia mountains so.....

I can generally understand the meaning of others posts. That is the purpose of language to communicate. If we've done that than success!

For myself I'm a bit OCD and if I catch a mistake after the fact, I will edit to fix my typos. I dislike sites where I can't fix a typo for a reasonable time.

Wuzzfuzz: Nothing wrong with a southern accent. As Tom Petty sang:

There's a southern accent, where I come from
The young'uns call it country, the yankees call it dumb
I got my own way of talkin, but everything is done
With a southern accent where I come from

Now that drunk tank in Atlanta is just a motel room to me
Think I might go work Orlando
If them orange groves don't freeze
I got my own way of workin' but everything is run
With a southern accent where I come from

For just a minute there I was dreaming
For just a minute it was all so real
For just a minute she was standing there with me

There's a dream I keep having where my mama comes to me
And kneels down over by the window and says a prayer for me
I got my own way of prayin' but everyone's begun
With a southern accent where I come from

I got my own way of livin' but everything gets done
With a southern accent where I come from

Spelling errors are surprisingly easy to overlook, especially if you proofread your own writing. And with my fat thumbs on the little smartphone keyboard, I make a lot of typos and don't catch all. So I don't read other people's posts like student papers.

It is sometimes difficult to resist a witty comment when people don't just spell things wrong, but produce unintentional humor.

Folks on gun forums love discussing heirlooms. Did you know there are also airlooms and harelooms?

Me too! That's why -
If I post a long one, I write some and then post,
Edit, write some more, etc.

If I know it's going to be a long one, I usually just open Word and do my composing there. Then just copy and paste.

Unfortunately, sometimes what starts out as a simple response turns into a diatribe and then, all bets are off.

I am from the deeeeep South, and proud of it. The county that I was born in, Clay County, Alabama, is a beautiful, sparsely populated county not too far from here. The Old Folks used words that I catch myself using sometimes, and I know what they mean. I call it "Clay County English," and mean no disrespect at all, I love the place.

Now I have to go and fetch this letter to the mail box before the postman runs.

Have a blessed day,

Leon
