Please don' turn this into a political thing, but I was just wondering about something.
If the United States were to experience the type of uprising and protesting as seen in other countries, which leader of which country would hold a press conference and tell our president "what he needs to do"? Or would they just leave it to him to decide?
I'm going to apologize if this post is taken as anything other than a question born of observation of the way things seem to be going.:o
Peace,

I'd think the fellers (dictatorships) in Iran, Venezuela and Russia would be the first ones in line, and the first ones to offer "help."

I will bet you Hugo Chavez would pipe up.

Ha, some one thought the same thing as me at the same time. Small world.

To be honest, I think you will see these guys line up and proceed to run this country into the ground for our "wickedness", the others will line up to see what they could get from us as they will probably call in all of the loans they have given us.

I am not sure what got you to thinking this, but I have been wondering the same thing lately. I will try to keep this as unpolitical as possible. It has always seemed to me, during my life time (born in 57) that the US has always been the world policeman. Not just now, but as far back as I can remember. I think this is due to the fact that we were (and hopefully still are) the most powerful nation on earth.

It is a fact that over the years, we as a country, have bailed out many other countries with our money and our blood. Whether we saved them from being overrun, or braced them up financially, we have a vested interest in their well being and continued success.

We also have exported freedom and battled against tyranny. To us, this seems like a very good thing to do. On the other hand, I wonder if many countries, especially in the middle east, see us as butting in where we are not welcome. I think that if it were not for our overwhelming strength, we would be told to hit the bricks.

I said all that to say this. If we were in the position of Egypt, would we want someone else to be telling us how to clean up our own house? I think not. Should we continue to try to mold the future of countries that are of special interest to us? probably, but I sure wish we didn't have to.

To answer your question, I think that if the SHTF here, it would be NATO making the suggestions (or demanding them), and we would have no choice but to become a part of the "New World Order". Let's hope that never happens!

I heard that we give 1.5 billion a year in aid to egypt. Maybe it`s felt with that much money to whithold sombody might listen to advice.

If things go wrong

When America was the Free World's policeman, we were also the world's supplier of many manufactured products and foreign aid. Now we have become the World's Buyer of manufactured products, and our money doesn't buy much influence.

I believe China (our debt banker and manufactured good supplier) and the mid-East (petroleum product source) would be sending envoys to Washington, DC with sound economic and political advice. It's another story if any one is listening or there to listen.

There were major demonstrations in the past, in metro locations that did not affect the contry as a whole but profoundly affected the local citizens. Times are a changin'.

Here`s what it`s really about. Now we go overboard as a country to be politicaly correct. We especialy dont want to publicly speak about the differances in religious beliefs.
Since isreal was created in 1948 as a new country for the jews to return to, we as a nation have backed them and off the charts, queitly supported and protected them. The real reason we have that will never, ever, be pubicly mentioned is the bible says any nation that stands with isreal will be blessed and ones that wont will be cursed. As bad as our country has strayed there must have always been some leaders in the background that do know the bibical implycations and influance the presidents through the years.
The closest I ever heard it almost acknowledged was in a interview with president nixon a commentater point blank asked him why we were always supporting isreal. At first he gave all the generic political excuses and then finaly let his guard down and blurted, "There are other reasons too, but I wont go into them!"
I read that clearer than any book at the time and knew exactly what he wouldnt say.
The generic danger is oil prices because of the canel etc. The real danger is we are worried about (queitly) is that the militant brotherhood muslems have sworn since time almost began to kill every jew (and gentile) that wont convert to muslem.
Now some will say this doesnt wash today because of our presidents background and sympathys. I suspect he is getting a barrage of advice, threats, warnings, deals and promises from every real christian congressman and everyone else, but very politicaly queitly that we will never hear untill judgement day!
Now I apologise for not following your opening thread plea. However it would only be hot air and answer nothing to try to answer your opening question without saying what I just did.

If I recall corectly, this happened to us in the 1960's - early 70's . Watts, Detroit, and several other cities were burning with riots and there was talk of armed insurection across our land. (I remember being one of the 4 or 5 people left inside the Greensboro Police Department the night we expected the Black Panthers to bomb us.(1971))

We worked it out, but not without a lot of pain and damage. I think we are the better for having experienced it now.

Hopefully we can avoid it in the future.
