I was lucky this weekend to find a 625-4 that I've been searching for awhile. Been reloading quite a few years, so am familiar with that aspect.
My question is, do you 625 shooters out there load yours with acp or autorim?
Thanks! :)

For reloading speed on the range, the sandard for this gun in competition is .45 ACP with moonclips.
If you don't need the reloading speed, use whichever you prefer, as both load the same with the same data.
Those of us who get used to the moonclips pretty much use them all the time.

Both, however I reserve the AR for the heavier loads with the 255gr SWC's to keep them from being used (temptation is a bad thing) in my 1911's. You can make a good demooner tool out of a length of 1/2" copper pipe by cutting away most of one end leaving a raised area to engage the moon clip, put the case in the pipe and twist. Enjoy, these are a most versatile and enjoyable revolvers.

I use both. ACP and AR.
Some of my club's matches require loading 5 rounds at a time.
With moon clips, that was less than ideal.

Also, some times different loads have to be loaded, complicating the clip issue.
I'm with Bob on the 255s. These are used for bowling pins.

Thanks TAROMAN, I have same revolver as you but 5" tube. Thinking about rigging it up similar to yours since I think I'd shoot it more if I could get on target better.

That's called recycling something into a useful item.

I use moon clips. I have 6 or 8 half moons I never use, and about 250 full moons that I use all the time. I keep my nickel brass separate from brass brass, so that they indicate a different load and I have a group of "moly" bullets to also indicate a different load. The 45AR's I have are for an old British revolver that was milled for 45 ACP but needs .456 Dia. bullets. Ivan

I have a 25-2, 1955 Target in 45acp.
You NEED to get this...
BMT Equipped, Inc.
(get the N45-6 model)

There is absolutely no faster way to load/unload a moon clip.
They are a bit pricey, but I had to try it. After several thousand rounds, the tool still works (no wear at all) and I have never damaged a moon clip.
I'm telling you, you will never regret getting this thing!!

Oh, your're welcome. :D

Thanks for all the responses so far. Makes good sense to use different brass for different loads. I'm more of a casual shooter, have a range in the back yard. Son and I shoot in an informal indoor winter bullseye pistol league.
Looking forward to shooting this Smith. :)

Okay, here is a video on this thing. You get to see how it works at about 4:10

I find loading and unloading moon clips to be a pain, so I use AR when shooting targets, moon clips when needed for speed during a match. I use the same target load all the time, so "heavy" loads are not an issue.

I rid myself or all the 45AR brass. Loading 45ACP and using moonclips in revolvers makes more sense to me.

I have a -3 and use both.

That BMT tool looks cool but is $$$!

Buy once, cry once!

Really, it is so fast and easy, it is worth twice the price...

Okay, it is worth the asking price, really.

I have used the others, some of them at least. None compare to the BMT.

I bought the gun to shoot moon clips, so 45acp/ I do have & load some AR brass, usually w/ a 250grLSWCHP & roll crimp.
