Advice on purchase of a 617 dash-?

TK customs makes a real nice lock delete kit. Perfect time to put one in when you're doing a deep clean or spring swap. I just did one for a buddy of mine.

Thx I ordered the Tk a few days back. What spring kit would you recommend? Might as well do it all at once!

I have one of the unusual 617s with the alloy cylinder, 10-shot. 6" bbl, so it's very accurate.

I'm surprised Smith hasn't come back out with the alloy cylinder these days.

Any of the K frame 22 revolvers regardless of vintage will shoot all velocity levels if 22 LR without concern
I find I get best accuracy out of standard velocity ammo and use that the most for this reason. But my last model 17 ( blue for the win every time- it is tragic smith doesn't produce a current 10 shot 17 blued) shot at least 100 thousand rounds over the years everything from 22 cb shorts to CCI stinger hyper velocity

I use the Aristocrat mounts they are low profile and wok well. Contains all the hardware.

That's a tricky question because it's a rimfire. My centerfire s&ws all get a wolff reduced power spring kit. I opted to loosen the strain screw maybe 1/2 turn to 3/4 turn on this one. He wanted it to be reliable with most ammo, so we stayed conservative.

I did have a spare 14# reduced power wolff trigger return spring, which I installed. The 13# is in my own 686+, that's what most folks switch to.

Thanks. I will get mine in a few days so lets see how the trigger is to start with! yes wasn't thinking about rimfire. I will log this for my 686!

Ok it is done ( less grips). 686-6 fit n finish as good as needs to be. 9lb DA and 3.54lb SA w/stock springs. Allchin mount for 1moa Trji. Just plugged lock w/Original precision. Very happy overall and appreciate all the advice!

You will love it. My 617-2 is one of my favorite revolvers. The speedbeez 10 shot speed loader made it more match practical, highly recommended. Great setup!

Just put better Hogue on it. Jeez took me about as long to do that than delete the friggin safety switch! Backing nut about 4 thou narrower than the yoke so falls out. Finally got the right amount of tape around it to wedge it in place. Once grip was on the butt screw wouldn't reach a thread to suck handle up unless removed washer first, then add it back for final cinch. Next time be faster! edit: and then I put the second on on my 686-4 and it only took a minute. On the first one they sent the yoke and nut without the nut being crimped to the yoke! I didnt know. I'll call them and have then send me a complete one. So much for QC! pic is they way the yoke is supposed to come in box.
