My best guess using the 4th Edition Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson is 1981.

1981 7D10001-9D44500.

So maybe mid 1981? Others with better information will be along to correct my assumptions.

Congratulations on your excellent English.

What are Norwegian gun laws like? Did you have to endure a lot of bureaucracy/laws to own a handgun?

Thanks :-)

We have to go through a safety course that takes 6 months before we can apply to acquire small arms.
When we are going to apply to be allowed to buy the pistol or revolver, we must get a recommendation from our Club as well as the Application to the police.

Anyone who want to own handguns in Norway, must be a member of a gun Club and have a certain minimum active lead each year.
This procedure you must complete each time you want to buy a new revolver or pistol ( but not the Security course).

The application to the police takes 2 - 3 weeks.

Then you will get granted if your record is spotless.

:-)

Here's an interesting quote from an Oslo journalist in USA Today.
"The police has not been armed in Norway," Seierstad says. "People in the US could say, 'Well, isn't that scary?' Well when the police is not armed, the drug dealer is not armed, the criminals are not armed, because no one is armed."

Can't argue with logic like that ?? Don't even try.
