The local Cabela's has trigger locks on all handguns and rifles, including lever actions. I tried looking at a revolver and a rifle and the staff will not remove the trigger lock. Stated it was store policy. This includes the used gun section. No test drives. WTH! No more testing the trigger pull, even if you wish to compare one maker against another.

Does anyone know if their local Cabela's has the same policy? Is this a new beginning? What's next?

LGS/Pawn Shop I went into on Monday had locks on all the rifles/shotguns, etc. Guess the concern is igits might come in the store and load ammo into a display gun and fire it. Oh well. At least they still sell guns. Sincerely. bruce.

Yep. Ran into that at the Crapela's in Dundee, Mich a couple of months ago. Really can't say I blame them for doing it. I know it sucks, but there's just waaaaay too many deranged goof balls out there today.

I think it started when somebody decided to commit suicide in a Bass Pro store in Kansas City I think it was. the Kearney store has locks as well

Been that way for a few months.(At all Cabela's and BassPro stores.) That is the company policy and it probably isn't going to change. If you probe the archives you will find 6 or 8 threads on the subject. It is what it is.

Well, I know that my local Cabelas's has the same policy, but the rub is that they often get some really nice collectible guns. If you want to buy, you just have to go with the policy. I don't like it either, but if there is a really nice gun there, and the price is right, I am going to take a chance. Sometimes it's something that you have been looking for for ages.

Best Regards, Les

Just a thought, if they had something I wanted and they have a range available ask if you can test the gun in there range. I personally don't like handling a gun very much in the store, there are too many people around and it is almost impossible not to flag someone or something to inspect it.

Never purchased anything from them, never cared for the place.
Their prices were always more higher then the locals.
To me they rate right up there with Dick’s but not as bad!

My local store does not follow this. Nor does the local Gander Outdoors. I recently tried a Glock at Gander, and based on the trigger pull, I bought it.

Silly to not allow folks to see if the firearm they want to spend
their hard earned money on may work, or not. And the "no returns" bit...? Really?
I'm seriously thinking about cancelling my card, and cutting it up
right at the service desk.
And the way it seems to be going, with the "Cabelas" logo getting
smaller and smaller on the flyers, soon it's going to disappear
altogether.
Which I think was their goal in the first place.

Way ahead of you, bro. I did that a month ago. Not at the service desk, but cancelled my account and cut up Cabela's Visa card. Done.
