Alliant BE-86

It is the same magic formulation as Bullseye(R) and Power Pistol(R), and virtually the exact geometry of Power Pistol.

I knew they were using magic in their Power Pistol powder. I just knew it.

He's looking for.........

Loading data is only on the front page of every powder company.
If only I had a fence to build..
Hawker,
If you would do a search, you would find out pretty quick the answer to your question.

He's looking for people that have used it and have some experience with it. The people on this forum will gladly tell him what he wants to know.

That's a great answer......

That's a great answer, sellersn. Thanks for taking time to get word from Alliant about this...

A lot of us are just ticked because even now we've never SEEN any BE-86, much less tried it out. Powder companies aren't forthcoming at all with info about their products (unless you specifically ask, like in this case). Announcements (like this one) or FAQ on websites would be great, especially in these lean times. I don't think they are like a Heinz Ketchup product in that they cater to a community that needs information BADLY and if they are having a hard time delivering product, they could at least tell us what's going on. I'd be reluctant to buy 8# of powder that I didn't know anything about. Even from somebody I put my trust in, like Alliant.

As to the availability, I was able to get some from Bass Pro online and sent to my local store. This was quite a while ago, though. Around here, it seems to MIA so I have to order it from online vendors.

It has become my favorite powder for 9mm as it's very accurate!!

There is an 8 pound jug and several 1 pound bottles on the shelf at the Sportsman's Warehouse in Pocatello, Idaho right now. Don't all rush to get there at once :)

The key word in your question here is "noticed". Again, have you actually tested Unique for position sensitivity? I'll guess not.
Legends die hard but there are many better powders around today than Unique.

Correct. I've shot 100's of reduced rounds in 460 & 500 Mag with Unique and no problems have presented themselves in them, just the opposite. That's all I need. I don't need to look for a problem (which I have seen in other loads) if I'm happy with the results.

That's great and I'm sure your attitude is typical of most
users of Unique. It could be THE typical attitude of people in
general regarding a broad range of subjects. Regardless of
the issue most folks simply believe what they want to believe
and don't look too closely at the little details lest they find
something upsetting. But some people are not satisfied with
the head in the sand approach and prefer to take a closer
look and this thread reflects that. Reality is what it is
regardless of people's belief and the reality is that there
are many better powders out there than Unique.

If I could find some BE 86 I would try it. If I could find some Unique I would use it again. Seems like I am always about a day late.

I bought 3 lbs of it around early December and I'm down to just one pound left for my 9mm's. No muzzle flash that I'm aware of and very accurate. I was shooting Power Pistol but not anymore. I'm sticking with BE-86.

Widener's STILL has BE-86 in stock in 1# and 8# jugs as of 3 mins. ago.

On the other side of that.
With the ignorance of the collective, the people that understand BE86, have more for them. It works both ways.
I have plenty of both, over 20lbs each, and rarely use Unique.
Bluedot is still new, and unbroken, as I see no use for it with BE86

I bought some when I couldn't find Unique and I wasn't sorry. It's comparison to Power Pistol is probably pretty close, but what I liked about it over Unique was that it wasn't a smoky. Much better for the indoor range.
