Almost back to normal where I live

I've been to a local gun show, they have ammo except for 22,s Im getting catalogs at home they have ammo at reasonable prices,Emails Im getting gun stores are selling AR15,s for $687.00. Also Walmart is selling AR15,s and so on . In my world in south florida it's starting to look back to normal. I'm a reloader I;ve been buying plenty of componets so Im good. How's the supply where you live,do think it is changing? I have two friends that have bought 45 cal handguns at reasonable prices. Let me know what you think, Im interested.

Ammo is still tough to find in Walmart in Central PA. It's hit or miss. I have actually seen some .44 mag on the shelves for once. Ammo seems to be in stock at places like Gander Mt. but the prices will make you think twice. I to am a reloader and haven't had much of an issue buying components. They are limiting quantites on primers but they also seem to be coming back.

In northern California powder is still an issue. Found some CFE, limit 2, have not seen HP-38 or Win 231 for 6 months.

Ammo is still tough to find in Walmart in WV. It's hit or miss. I have actually seen some .38 and .40 and the rare .308, and very rarely .22. Prices have been about the same.

I don't shop for ammo at WalMart but the Local gun shops are well stocked. They even have % off sales!

Components are plentiful and have been for some time.

Now is the time to stock up. Mid-term elections are next month which means I need to be prepared for Round Two!

I was at a local Dick's Sporting Goods yesterday and the shelves were full of handgun ammo but not a box of 22LR anywhere. I guess it's a start...

Oct 12 & 13 Augusta, GA had a real gun show; guns, ammo, reloading supplies, and there wasn't any jewelry, beef jerky, or old fishing tackle. New guns were full list price, 1960 to 2000 S&W revolvers were at premium prices, Colt Pythons were golden from $2,500 to $3,500. Powder was $27 to $31 per pound. Primers were available in all sizes for between $32 to $45 per thousand. Center fire ammo was available in just about all calibers for 50¢ to $1.25 per round. Remington Thunderbolts 22 LR were $75 per 500 round brick. Free parking and $8 admission.

I walked on by a M19-2 nickel, 6" barrel, Patridge front sight for $685 including tax. Found Sweetie a pink Second Amendment T-shirt for the health club workouts.

It was a nice show but the "WANT" button never got touched. I think I'll put the guns in the closet and lock the ammunition in the safe!

I am not seeing handgun ammo at Walmart in the suburbs. [the city will not allow any handgun ammo sales in Walmart city stores]

LGSs claim they still can't get some calibers. Shelves are not well stocked.

Most shops stopped paying cash for used guns and if they buy will only give you credit for your next gun purchase.

The biggest shop around has been giving 20% off all used guns and all other other stock incluing ammo. That goes on until the end of the month. Another store told me they stopped altogether buying used guns b/c they need to sell new guns to stay open.

Although ammo prices are still higher then this time last year its all pretty much back to normal. Lately ive picked up a whole lotta stuff because people are trying to recoupe the money they spent in a panic.

Here in Portland, OR (actually Gresham) I bought 2 525rd boxes of Remington .22lr for $18.97 a box at Bi-Mart. They had most calibers availably but their reloading components inventory was pretty limited.

Growing up in OR. And moving north to WA I really miss Bi-Mart.


Tacoma WA- LGSs are stocked to the rafters with Black rifles all at "normal" prices.

Ammo is where it was and plentiful in every caliber Wal-Mart has WWB of 9mm for 26+ tax, AK/SKS food is 300$ per 1K 5.56 is 400$ per 1K.


Gun Shows are actually Gun Shows and not a Museum of firearms that wont sell due to outrageous prices in fact there were many deals to be had I was shocked.

Finding handgun (9mm, 38, 357, and 40) and certain long gun (30-30) ammo on my side of the state (SW FL) is still not too good. .22's are a rare find. Bass Pro, Dick's, and Walmart are hit and miss at best. Reloading components are scarce (expect primers).

Here in western Mass, Walmart shelves are bare. When they get anything in it doesn't last long. LGS have plentiful handgun, some stores even removed the "one box only of any caliber." Some 22lr out there some stores are gouging charging $90 for a brick of CCI Velocitors. Reloading components are coming back slowly. I can get powder (but not my first choice) and primers. Bullets can be found on the internet at various places. I am near the Connecticut border. We used to be able to buy ammo, at Cabelas. But a new LAW says you have to have a ammo certificate.

Ref original post - sure not good here in Central Florida. Your not all that far away yet totally different when it comes to reloading supplies (especially when it comes to powder). Thank you lucky stars.

I live in a small market area that is somewhat isolated and supply is still erratic but improving. I finally gave in and bought 4 boxes of CCI Maxi Mag on Gunbroker. Even with shipping it was $8 a box less than the Remington I found here after two months of looking. The Remington was the first and only box of 22 WMR I've seen.

Second that on central FL still hurting. Really was not much at gun show last weekend. Walmart is hit or miss (mostly miss) and the significant LGS seems to be doing ok but ammo still overpriced. I did drop by Gander Mountain last last week and other than for little 9mm (and hidden 22) it looked like they had gotten truckloads of everything. GM is usually my last choice because they are usually so overpriced. They had lots of quantity and selection of 223/556 (lots of 55 and 63g lake city) but other than the $1 plus per round hunting stuff everything junk to lake city was .60 per round whether 20rd box or 1000rd case. Reloading forget about it... gun show was weak (got 1lb of titegroup, primers, some Hornady 223 and forgot rifle powder). Just not really a good place in Orlando for reloading supplies I know of. Gander had zero anything (don't even have a reloading section anymore) and Bass Pro was about same last time I was there. Even Spacecoast from Melbourne had very little to offer at the GS.

Powder is the worst

If you can find any powder it's $30/lb. Primers are better. I have seen any factory bullets I can use and I'm now using cast.

not here in southeast tennessee. wal mart is still a no-go when it comes to ammo. some of the big box stores has ammo, but prices are still somewhat high. several local big gun stores with lots of ammo. but they had it all the time. their prices were high and no one was buying it. over $100.00 for 500 rounds of 22 lr, get the picture.

i live in rural arizona with one walmart. walked in the other day and there were 3 525 packs of 22 sitting on the shelf! 20 bucks each.i thought I was dreamin. I went there for 12g trap loads and nothing. went home with 22's. Also found Varget powder @ gun show 1# 25.00 otd. my 556 was happy. Dicks S G's was a joke. one pk/100 22 for 10.00 one per customer. people were standing in line to get fleeced. i passed, I had to fight my way through the soccer balls and tennis rackets to get back to the gun area. never again...
