Welcome from Ohio!
....I was stationed near Wahiawa, about center....I went to K Bay and PH though, a few timesWelcome to the campfire!
I spent some fun Navy time at Pearl and at Kaneohe Bay.
You're correct, notwithstanding popular opinion to the contrary, a service sized 1911 is far too big for concealed carry. Lots of folks do it and brag about it but they have to take a lot of extra time for leather and such to make it doable. I give them a simple YMMV and ignore the braggadocio.
It's not the easiest thing in the world to obtain a handgun in Hawaii, never mind a carry permit. Good luck with that.
I agree about the DogsWelcome from Bastrop, Texas
..we carried the heaviest piece of infantry equipment --standard/usual = the bipods...online it says 42 lbs for the M29A1...I remember learning that they were 44 lbsWelcome from Florida!
20 years ago I was an 81s Plt Cmdr. I still believe 0341s are the hardest and meanest breed of Marines the Corps produces. They still carry the systems on their backs and they haven’t gotten any lighter. I had my hands full keeping my mortarmen out of trouble in garrison, and when we got to Iraq all I had to do was maneuver them into position, take their leashes off and point in the direction of the enemy.
Welcome from Arizona
interesting pic
....I just bought my first pistol--an M&P EZ 9mm...got it so my wife could use it also...I wanted a 1911A1 which I used in the Corps, but kind of big for CC, and more expensive...
wow!Welcome to the greatest forum on the interweb from Southwest Florida! I spent some time out there in our 50th state also. Dad was stationed at Kaneohe MCAS ‘64-‘66 and I was stationed at Pearl from ‘80 to ‘85.
..I was looking at those last week, just researchingAfter I retired from the Police Department I continued carrying a Colt Commander in 45 ACP.
....I was stationed for about 3.5 years at Lejeune, my second enlistment... ..we would go on night patrols a lot through the ''swamps''.....imagine my surprise when my buddy and I took a canoe down the bay area, [ on a day off ] and then through some very narrow streams --and there was an alligator !!! I had been at Lejeune for some time, and never knew there were gators in NC!!!Welcome aboard from coastal North Carolina. Just down the road from MCAS Cherry Point.
much thanks on that..I am will research as soon as I log off hereWelcome from the Carolina Upstate.
You might look at some of the Turkish 1911 imports. I picked my "1911" for around $400. About the same quality as what I trained with in the mid 60s. They are available in commander formats
Photo of the gun and a 50 round target a 10 yards. I accept responsibility for those flyers
I had to look that up hahahhahWelcome aboard from South Florida where we hunt
with Rods and Reels.
Do you play a Marine Band harmonica,
a 270 Deluxe or a Super 64?
Pic of Officer/45 with LCP.
Both are carried.
