So I'm fairly new to the SW revolver world. I've had Sigs/CZ75, but the opportunity arose to get a decent deal on a 629-4, so I jumped at it.

My CZ is polished SS with coco bolo grips and I wanted the SW to go with the same theme, so I go online and purchase. As you can see below, the stock code is SB so I'm assuming the gun is a square butt. Put new hogue coco bolos on (gorgeous btw), notice gap, begin researching, end up here.

Anyone help explain? Also, looking at my serial number, codes, etc...can you tell me anything more about the gun? Mid 90's I believe.

Thanks in advance.

The SB stands for synthetic black, at least that's what I was told

Stocks are also known as grips. They never noted square butt or round butt frame configuration on the box labels.

I have been doing some research on this and SB stands for square butt conversion grips on a round butt frame, go figure but that's what I came up with . SG is the abbreviation for synthetic grips, hope this helps

Being under the "Stock" header on the box, that would be correct. Nice looking 629!!

Thanks. I'll try to get some better pictures once she's all clothed.

ahhh, this would make sense, the rubber hogues are what through me off to begin with. Thanks for the clarification.

Can anyone tell me anything else about the gun based on the product code / "spec. ord." ?
