Let's hope so.
A month ago, on vacation, I spent a night in Lewiston, Idaho -- home of CCI & Speer.
I dropped by a gun store in the downtown area. The only Small Pistol Primers they had to sell were made by PMC.
Because I have 2,000 empty 9mm and .38 Special cases to reload, I bought 2,000 primers. I left the last 1,000-primer carton on the shelf for the next guy.
Later, in Spokane, Washington I purchased 500 Large Pistol primers at the famous White Elephant outdoor store. They limited purchase to 500 primers, which was fine because that's all I needed.
Got a lot of .45 Long Colt, .44 Special and .44-40 cases to reload, don'tcha know.
I'm trying to be conservative in my buying, leaving something for the next guy.
In this site and others I've seen guys bragging about how they bought 5,000 or 10,000 primers and every box of .22s off the shelf.
And that's why we can't find what we need.
Thank the reloading gods that I make my own .380 ACP! I hear that caliber is particularly hard to find.
Here in the Salt Lake City area, it's difficult to find primers of any size and ammo of some calibers (.380 included, I'm told). The Hoarders are out in force in Utah!
While my purchase of 2,500 primers may seem excessive to some, you should know that I've nearly exhausted my ammo supply over these past few years. I tend to shoot until I'm nearly out, then spend the fall and winter catching up.
Because I shoot so many calibers (about 20 rifle and pistol) I don't burn up massive amounts of any one particular caliber.
We'll get through this a lot faster if people stop buying ammo and components they won't use or need.
I was in a Wal Mart a few months ago when a guy bought all 8 boxes of .22 Short they had on hand. He told the salesman that he didn't have a .22 Short, but he was buying all the .22 rimfire he could, "just in case."
So the next guy, who owns an old .22 Short rifle or pistol, and wants to take it out plinking is out of luck!
Madness ... Madness!
