Ammo Deal

I've heard report after report that PMC is pretty bad for the M&P 10 and have thus avoided them. Having lots of other ammo issues Is that perception wrong.

I have used lots of Prvi 145 gr. FMJ in my M&P 10 with zero problems.

Anyone tried the ZQ1 ammo from Walmart in theirs yet ? It's 7.62X51 NATO. Doesn't seem to be jumping off the shelf very fast. Haven't been able to find out much about it.

I see Walmart did a Roll-Back on the ZQ1 ammo here. 7.62X51 NATO is going for about .74 cents a round. $14.97 for a box of 20. Anealed brass with boxer sealed primers. No metal. Magnet won't stick. Bullets are 147 ? 149 ? grain FMJ.

I'm still down from a surgery with at least another one to go yet and the Doc doesn't want me shooting quite yet. Hate to loose out on a "sleeper" at these prices while the pickings good. I'd be happy if they'd hit a 5 gal bucket at 300 yards and were reloadable a couple times.

I'm thinking (at the prices they were and are now) if these are that bad people would be putting the word out like any other junk that pops up.

Think I'll go with the fear of the unknown and grab them while the gettings this good.

Well, how'd it go with the ZQ1 308 ammo thru your Big Ten? Is it a go or a no-go?

In other words: "If I want to hear my gun go "BANG" once, or maybe twice; & don't really care about hitting anything; just like to split the air molecules with a piece of lead once in a while; then this is the ammo for me?" Let's see, I spent how much to get my Big Ten? Now I'm going to shoot ammo with which I can't hit anything? Heck, I might even be able to save $0.35 per round on 500 rounds/year. Yep, that makes real good sense to me. Talk about spending a dollar & saving a penny!!!

Maybe short range practice and brass for reloading. Nothing for long range I'd rely on, but it's not high end $2. a shot ammo either. Most people I've seen at the range are only shooting 1-200 yards and think their big game hunters. 308 I want -6" at 5-800 yards. I'm looking at cheap ammo for reloads and better MOA.

500 rounds a year ? That's barely 41 rounds a month, or 9.6 rounds a week...

Ran a 100 rds of zq1 through my mp10 a week ago with zero malfunctions. Its not very accurate, but its decent enough for plinking like maddmax said.

Figure if I can get a couple reloads out of the brass it's worth it. I can get better MOA out of my reloads and not spend $2.+ a shot doing it. Like you said, its decent enough for plinking.

Shot zq1 through my mp10 today. OK at 100 yds; barely acceptable (6-8") at 200 yds & not good at 300 yds. Switched to Federal 150 gr and shot 6-7 " at 400 yds. No malfunctions with any ammo but I'll save the rest of my zq1 for 100 yd days. Larry
