Ammo for S&W Model 41

I've been using CCI Standard Velocity which my 41 digests well.
Try doing a search on this topic in this Forum. It's been discussed at great length several times in the past.
Good Luck, Kevin

CCI Standard Velocity. On the two rimfire groups I read, it is overwhelmingly the most recommended for the Model 41. I've never had a failure to feed or eject with it. In thousands of rounds only a couple of misfires.

I've asked this same questions on several forums lately and the hands down winner for the best ammo is CCI standard velocity. Period.

+ for CCI-SV

I reason that CCI-SV and CCI Greentag are very similar in manufacture, possibly Greentag is a bit closer in nominal tolerances than SV. In any case and in my hands it is no more accurate.
I have not found the high priced Eley, Laupa, etc, to be any more accurate shot off hand from a M41 than SV and of course SV is far less expensive.
As far as function goes, the SV functions as well as any and better than lots of competitors.

CCI SV is the only thing I use in my Model 41. Functions flawlessly and goes where it's pointed.

For economics I use Fed Champs or 555 or any good quality bulk. They are not 100% reliable.....but I live with it. I'm not shooting competitively so it does not matter. I did use CCI SV and was (and still) impressed. They are flawless as everyone said before.

For general plinking ammo that will not cause excessive wear to the model 41, I like the Federal 550 paks that WalMart sells. It functions fine, very few FTF's, and it is loaded a little lighter than some of the other bulk pak shells.
Here are some specs:

Rem GB's 550 value pak: 36gr HP @ 1280 fps
Win 333 ct value paks: 36gr HP @ 1280 fps
Fed 550 value pak,
load # 750: 36gr HP @ 1260 fps

Of the three, the Rem is the "hottest" sounding, and has the snappiest recoil, followed by the Win 333's (which are about the same as Super X 40gr), and then the Federal is the mildest, both noise and recoil wise.
The Federal would not be my first choice for hunting, but it is an excellent plinking round, and works well in my mod 17 revolver and all my pistols, S&W 41, Ruger 22/45, S&W 2206, S&W 2214.
The Federal also has the fewest FTF's.

I use CCI Standard Velocity (blue) and shoot about a case a year and could count the alibis on one hand I have had since about 1980 and these have gone thru 4 different 41's

Thanks Pop

CCi Standard Velocity or Federal Gold medal for a stock gun.
Stear clear of Remington in any form. Wolf ( my "GO TO" ammo for any other rimfire) doesn't cycle well in many 41's either.

For Bullseye CCI SV is great. I have been shooting Steel Challange with my 41 and have found that CCI Blazer works fine and cost less.

CCI Standard Vel, CCI Green Tag (not often I don't shoot well enough to see the difference), and CCI Subsonic HP for hunting. All shoot well in my 3 41's.

CCI 40 gr is what works best in both my 41 and my 46. Fired around 150 just last night at the range and never had one problem at all.
