AN EXPENSIVE AND VERY EMBARRASSING MISTAKE TODAY

An expensive learning experience!

We had a similar experience. We were at the beach (it's open to driving), and my wife left her phone on the hood of our vehicle. Neither one of us noticed it when we drove away, and when we got home, of course it was gone. My wife wanted to go back to the beach to look for it, but it's a big beach and I wasn't sure I remembered exactly where we parked anyway. So, first we prayed, "Lord, please let us find her phone!", and then we headed back to the beach. Halfway there, my phone rang, and it was my wife's phone. The people who found it met us at the beach entrance, and she got her phone back.

Not an expensive learning experience, but a learning experience nonetheless.

I recently carelessly dropped my iPad on the floor.
MacDonald’s , Grants, NM.
It’s in a case and fell flat.
No damage!
Whew!
Missed another bullet.
When a bullet goes past you, don’t waste your time trying to see if your name is on it.
It isn’t.
The bullet with your name on it is coming straight at you.
You can’t see the side, only the nose.

Funny one on me. Years ago before te smart phones, I had a Razer flip. GOt it wet and of course it wouldn't wor. Gave it to my wife (not telling he it got wet) and asked her to take it to the store and get it fixed as it was new and shouldn't be not working. Anyway I gwet this call from wife icily asking if I got the phone wet. In my best foghorn leghorn voice I strongly denied such a thing and asked her why in the world she would dare ask me something like that...It was then that I learned that there is some kind of chip or something inside the phone that turns green when wet. :o Bottom line I had to pay for a new phone, wife got a new car and I'm never to ask her again to return ANYTHING of mine :p
It would'a worked if I had gone there instead of her-she always rolls over and gives up after the first punch, me, well it just makes me stronger :D:D

“I never got it wet, and anybody who says different is a ******* liar.”

Haven't had a cell phone long enough to loose it, but I'm sure I will sometime. I bought a Moto G5plus from Consumer Cellular for $200 and a plan that should be around $25-$30 a month. I only hope I learn all about it before I croak.

Here’s another option - we were with Verizon forever. Switched to T-Mobile and they paid off the Verizon contract and $650 per phone. Got the kids new phones from Verizon, waited 30 days, switched to T-Mobile, and they paid off the phones. Competition is great. Monthly charge is less, too.

T mobil has very attractive deals - too bad their service is so poor in our area. Many I know who had T-Mobil have switched back to Verizon. Cheap is not good if it doesn't work when you need it. I WISH T-Mobil's service was better - then it would be a no-brainer!

As much as I despise Verizon, they do have great service in just about every area of the Country I've visited.

Its not a mystery of how the phone dialed you / home - its a setting that if you told the app it was lost, that is what it is designed to do, while on, it will try to contact you.

Very likely it just had a shattered screen, i.e. off the hood and onto the pavement, someone picked it up and laid it against the liht pole. Coiuld even have been run over.

Watched a local show, guy had two iphone 5's, he had an otter case on one and a cheap bezel case on another, both withstood, dropping, tossing and finally, being run over, etc, and the cheaper one broke finally when run over. but still worked. Both quit working when he took the cheap case off and the otter case and simply dropped them 6 ft.

The Otter cases are well worth the bucks they cost .. I've had them on my wife's and my phones now for now with our last 3 phones each .. If I remember right they will take a drop from 10 feet ..

We have both dropped them and knocked mine off the table a couple of times with out any damage !!

Speaking of Verizon-
I am Comcast Victim-
Telephone, TV and internet.
I recently drank the koolaid and signed up for Comcast cell service.
They use Verizon, it’s the best Cell service around here just like in a lot of places.
Comcast don’t charge for cell - message service, just for data.
I keep the data turned off.
I pay about $3 a month - tax, get unlimited talk-text.

Expensive mistake

When I was a LEO, my wife owned a convertible, one day I laid my service weapon on the top, then proceeded to get in and let the top down. About 75 miles up the road, I realized what I had done and immediately pulled over to check. The top had nicely folded my piece inside of it, and it was undamaged and intact.
Haven't been so lucky on other occasions.

Last year a friend of mine found a loaded revolver laying in the middle of the road. He turned it in to the country sheriff who located the owner. An older gent who had been out shooting and had left on the tailgate of his truck. [emoji1]

... I fought the iPhone thing for many years (longer than most of my friends) and I did have a Flip Phone up until only 4 or 5 years ago.

it was just a stupid mistake on my part

I fight it mostly to annoy the heck out of my 3 kids, wife and 16 year old grand daughter ..... they know I love playing the contrarian on this subject.

Mistake .... yes. You're human. Nobody was injured or killed, nobody got divorced or lost their job. It happens. Experience is how we learn and good for you on sharing the story!

Don't be so hard on yourself.

These things happen, you're only human. In this super busy world, you're bound to forget a thing or two once or twice.

I agree with the phone becoming a necessary evil. So much of our identity and personal information is on a phone these days it is scary.
