....or perhaps some some bad ju-ju.

Saw this today at my LGS and thought that it may provoke some interest and comments here. Apparently it's a BTAF overrun edition, sold to a civilian and then re-sold to the LGS. While the BTAF provenance may add some interest and value to the 640-1, having the "666" serial number to me would be a bit of a turn-off. Thoughts? -S2

I would not bother me. I used to live in Lancaster County ,PA, and most of the women in the store were Mennonite. I went into a food store and bought something, and it was $6.66. I can still recall the look of the cashier.

On a true note, yesterday my car turned 66666 at the bottom of my street

If it was 256 I'd buy it to go next to my 66-2 and 27-2 that have 256 in them. (My old badge/call sign) I think 666 is kind of cool.

I dunno; I've heard it said that shooting 357's from a J-frame is like shaking hands with the devil. That "666" makes it a bit too ominous for my tastes.

Owner hasn't priced the 640 yet, but if anyone is seriously interested, PM me and I'll send along his phone number. -S2

Perfect candidate for a Gothic "Heaven and Hell" engraving theme! Even the "CCC" seems relevant.

US 2 across Montana eastbound, you'll notice that the last few mile markers seem to be placed at less-than-one-mile intervals... allowing them to increment up to MM #666. Bizarre but seen it myself.

Interesting indeed!

I have a (now deceased) 2nd cousin who was a New York City cop and wore badge 1666, the reverse of your serial number. It didn't work out so well for him - he was the center of a major police scandal in the (19)20's that resulted in his dismissal from the force.

Go for it and call it the Beast. I would not want that number on my person but would be ok on an impersonal tool.

Wyoming has a photo on their license plate that they swap out every 6-7 years. When I lived there it was the Devils Tower, I got new plates for my Jeep and the number was 666. Kinda cool having the Devils Tower and 666 on the same plate that Smith would have gone just fine in that Jeep. :D

So many states don't make certain combinations of letters or numbers. It's cool you could get that.

I spotted a used Ruger MkII in the gun case at a shop and the clerk told the serial # scared a previous customer off of this gun. The last numbers of the serial # were 666. Didn't phase me in the least.

666 is just a number like 331/3 or Pi. The Meaning according to the Bible is a un-issue to a Follower/Believer in Christ. Most Recent research points to Nero as the person who represents the Number 666. I rather like Pi as the SN, the pistol is covered in numbers.
