I received my Aim Surplus 5906 TSW and 2 spare magazines today; impressed; no, really.

What was advertised as a Novak low-profile rear sight actually turns out to be a set of Novak Style low-profile three dot tritium night sights; about half as bright as my newest tritium sighted gun that is about 2 years old. So with luck I have a couple years of (dim) light left! Two of the three magazines are marked "RESTRICTED Export, Law Enforcement and Government use only.

The photos don't show the holster wear at the muzzle and on the right side of the slide by the takedown pin; other then that and a well used stock the gun cleaned up rather nicely; time to try the range tomorrow, using some Speer Gold Dot 124 grain LE ammo. I will try to post some photos after the range visit. In the mean time, here's the photos I took today:

I couldn't get a clear shot of the rear sight lamps but the front shows up well.

Congrats on a beautiful pistol. I'll be very happy if mine looks like that. My part time FFL dealer hasn't contacted me yet for pick up...looking at this gorgeous pistol is making me antsy.

who needs them...now?

Why put up with dim night sights? Trijicon can re-lamp the factory sights for around $54.

jsbethel - thanks for the info; I know someone at Trijicon - odds are I could probably get a new set of sights for that price...but for now I think I'm going to leave well enough alone....

I saw these in the AIM email 2 hours too late. Bummer. They sold out quick.

Well, got my 4506TSW today. Came in Monday from AIM, but as usual, I got a delay. FBI NICS has alot of time to harass American's. Anyway's nice gun. Minor wear, sights are dead. Zero. This is my first S&W semi. The trigger has a click and hangs loose feel on SA before slack take up. Is this normal? DA feels normal. I bought a extra mag. One has S&W logo, red follower, the other no logo, black follower. Both mags do have a S near the base plate. Took the weapon apart, very clean. Wiped it off and oiled with Gun Butter. Will fire it Monday. The indoor range is nuts on the weekend.

5906TSW. My mind wandered.

I'm glad. I'd have lost mine if there was a such thing as a 4506TSW and I'd missed out.:)

ETA:Look at the 4566 thread on the front page regarding trigger click.

Kind of related to this; went to my local gun shop this morning...just to look and buy some gun rugs; and one of the weekend gunsmiths said don't leave, I have something for you.

Score! For $24 he sold me 1 S&W hi-cap magazine for the 5906; and two 20 round magazines for my Model 59. For fun he threw in a box of 100 rounds of .38 Automatic factory ammo.

Very nice acquisition, cwo. (sigh) if only those were safe enough to have in California.....
