I found a ANIB 19-2 Smith at my LGS With the desirable 2 1/2 inch barrel Blued w/box and docs. I have been been looking for one of these for years W/O depending on someone else's opinion on condition of gun aka auctions. To say I'm Happy is quite an understatement. Here's a picture but i don't take very good pics

S&W Model 19 ....

Kudos to you ! …. As a collector, I've had the good fortune to acquire several over the years in both blue and stainless.

At age 18, more than 50-years ago, I'd purchased a 19-2 brand new from my local gun-shop. The round butt fitting my hand perfectly.

Living in central Massachusetts, fired-up my 1962 Ford Galaxy and somehow made it all the way to Springfield and the S&W home.

Traveling up a long and impressive approach, parked in front … the only vehicle in front of what might be an aircraft factory or a palace.

Entering a huge set of double doors, arrived in a large hall. A very well dressed, all business, gentleman greeted me and inquired as to the reason for my visit.

Explained that I wanted a 6-inch barrel on the finest handgun I'd ever had …. The Gentleman asked if I'd wait in the hall and disappeared into the factory.

After a very short wait, he returned with my 19 in a new box that accommodated a new 6-inch barrel with my original two-and-one-half carefully wrapped.

Thrilled … I offered to pay any amount and was refused.

My old Ford brought me home and I've enjoyed 50-plus years for great shooting with my Model-19 …. A 55-Gallon Drum at a hundred yards easy pickings for my faithful friend.

Best regards to all …..

Great gun. Congrats.

Love the 2.5 inch 19 and 66 guns. In my opinion, one of if not the best self-defense revolvers.
The one I own is a 19-4. I bought it used at a LGS in 1978 for $175. It was in like new condition, but no box. I bought a set of S&W combat grips for it I saw on a counter display shortly after buying the gun and have never put the originals back on it again.
It's my second most carried gun next to my '56 vintage Chiefs Special.
Enjoy the gun for what it is. Don't "safe queen" it like the previous owner likely did.
