Announcing the new, patent pending, RevUp ActionTM hammer

The hammer spur is eliminated for two reasons. Taking weight off the hammer allows for faster lockup but the other benefit is to let you get your hand as high up on the frame as possible which give you a better grip for DA shooting.

When shooting double action if your hand is high the spur will bite your web. If I understand DA shooting.

The "Impossible Hammer"

I just received my new Revup-Action Hammer, got it all installed, and I was just amazed! My revolver is a S&W 929, which I received new. Out of the box it had a rather disappointing action, with a trigger pull of 16#. Not a problem - I took it to the gunsmith, and was able to get the trigger pull down to a starting pull of 7# and a breaking point of 4.5# Not too bad... But I wanted something even better.

I heard about this new hammer through a few competition friends, describing it like a kind of "compound bow sort of thing, where it starts off with a normal trigger pull, then gradually lessens until you get a single-action like, crisp "break." OK, THAT got my attention, so I ordered one, received the kit, and set about installing it (easy install).

With the new hammer installed, the starting pull was 5.4 pounds, and a breaking point of 2.4# This is amazing! Double action with a single action-like trigger pull. My steel plate scores went up immediately, and this is now my favorite revolver.

The install kit and instructions were spot on, and easy to install. The parts were precise, looked fabulous, and needed no additional gunsmithing to fit. This is no "Ikea" kind of kit - it is what the competition world has desperately needed, ever since revolvers came out.

I visited and got to speak to the owner, and he told me the Revup Action hammer is the product of 30 years, showing me a box full of prototype designs he has accumulated from the beginning. Now, with the final product (although knowing the inventor, he probably still has a few ideas for future improvements), everything is CNC milled to extreme tolerances, with repeatable accuracy, the finish is perfect, and I am in awe of this hammer kit!

Now that this gun is done, I just ordered a new hammer kit for my K frame 617-10. I am excited and can hardly wait for this new kit.

RevKab:
Thanks for that review. I was hoping to hear from people that have had the kit to see how good it's working.

I ordered one for my 617 and am anxiously waiting for it.

I like your comparison to a compound bow. It make sense to me.

We have 3 videos of revolvers in action on the home page. Two of them show the new hammer compared to the original hammer. We have been working more on the hammers than the website. Once the hammers are fully in production, we will turn our attention to upgrading the site. There are only 2 of us doing the entire project, plus working full time, so we are spread a bit thin at the moment.

I would like to share the latest newsletter.

Pre-orders are still open!

We have some great news!

We have been able to manufacture enough of the out-of-stock parts to fulfill all the currently outstanding N-frame hammer orders! These went out today.

Now we can resume working on finalizing K- and L-frame hammers, so we hope those will follow soon.

There are still some pre-orders left open. Once these have all been claimed, prices will be going up, so please pass the word so that your friends can get in on the current pricing.

If you have already pre-ordered, please accept our sincere thanks! We know you've been waiting anxiously for your kits, and we're excited that we have been able to fulfill N-frame orders and that we will soon be able to fill K- and L-frame orders. Thanks for your patience!

Sounds like it, right? But it is the most amazing improvement on my revolver, ever. Back in the day, back when I shot bowling pins, I had (and still have) a Ron Power Grandmaster (back when Ron was the one doing all the work), which is simply amazing. Great, smooth action, pretty light pull. Shooting pins, I used to start with my first shot single action, then DA the rest.

With the Revup Action hammer kit, I was a little nervous at first, beginning SA. Yet, this was the most incredible trigger pull, ever, and I have transitioned easily and completely. Honestly, I think the SA pull on my Power Grandmaster is about 2.5 pounds. The start pull on my Revup Action kit on my 929 is about 4.5#, and the breaking point is 2.4# (measured). Ain't no gimmick.

There are some lighter weight hammers out there which do improve slightly, but this one is designed way different - the further you ppull the trigger, the lighter the pull gets.

One of the things I totally dislike about the 627s I have and most of the Smith L frames and N frames from the factory that I have handled, is the hand ratchet interface. There is a hard bind and I have invested lots of my time and energy in trying to make them feel like the old N frames. I have two 627-2 six inch guns that I have sent back to the factory for rebuilds several times, each time requesting a smooth early carry up and smooth after lockup follow through. Ha! They are not able to do it!! Or won't.

The most amazing thing about the new Rev up hammer is that it totally solves this issue on all three of the 627-2s I've tried it on. I have no idea why the hammer has that affect on the trigger, hand and ratchet works, but it sure does in my guns! I almost always shoot double action, only single action in long range shooting with my .44 Mags, so this new hammer is just what I have been looking for, action wise for my shooting guns.

Right now I only have two of the hammers, but I know I need one for an L frame and another N frame one.

By the way, this is a very well made hammer, and it comes with all the stuff you need to install it. And customer service it top notch!

Thanks, Glenn. Whenever we come out with something new, we'll make an announcement to alert anyone who may be interested. It will probably be a while before we do the ones with a hammer spur and SA notch.

Just ordered my second RevUp hammer for another N frame. I love the way it functions. Great product in my opinion.

Well I don't have a trigger scale but a first blush this hammer is going to be an amazing change! Tomorrow I'm going to pick up a hammer pin shim and start the strain screw tuning. I'm thinking about using the stock strain screw seated tight as would have been with the stock hammer..what say the experts? Or will I have to use the supplied strain screw?
