It's Friday Beer Time!

I'm not having anything I have not discussed before, I'm having a good sound example of a Vienna Lager, Samuel Adams Boston Lager. The more I drink this beer the more I appreciate it. I like it.

I'm deep in thought about what to get to take to our family get together on Sunday. It'll be lunchtime and there will be no more than four folks drinking beer. I think I'll go to Trader Joe's in the morning and put together a mix 6-pack of two or three varieties to take.

Cheers!

Good Morning:

It's been a chilly couple of days with the high yesterday of only 62 and the lows in the very low 40's. Right now it's only 42 degrees.

The old wives tales would say this is Blackberry Winter. When Blackberrys start blooming here in Middle Tennessee.

Yum, Blackberry Jam, Blackberry Jelly, Blackberry Tarts, Blackberry Cobbler and yes another Tennessee tradition Homemade Blackberry Wine. Germantown Tennessee (west Tn. Near Memphis near the home of Mr Lee Barner and Justin Timberlake) ithat area is well known for their Homemade Blackberry Wine. As East Tennessee is known for their Moonshine. Homemade Blackberry Wine is a traditional Tennessee Christmas Gift!

There's nothing like Warm Fresh Homemade Tennessee Blackberry Cobbler with a Big Ole scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream! Even warm Blackberry preserve over vanilla Ice Cream for you Health Nuts???

So enjoy your day! Be safe, Stay well and Wish for Fresh Blackberry Cobbler in just a few months! And Don't forget the Vanilla Ice Cream!

Or just take a BIG swig of Blackberry Wine followed by a lil swig of real vanilla extract and call it desert? Talking about a MAJOR Hangover! Ouch!
I just gained two pounds and doubled my blood sugar level, just reading the above post!
Geoff
Who thinks fresh blackberry cobbler and vanilla ice cream are on my Doctor's menace list.

Back once upon a time, wifeys always fell off after a few REAL wine coolers. Not this fake malt beverage garbage! I was so sad when they stopped making the REAL wine coolers! Dang It!

I thought a wine cooler was 50/50 burgundy and Club Soda over ice in a very tall glass?
Geoff
Who isn't an experienced drinking person.

Brigeton, bigride...prayers to you and yours.
I can say "Been there. Done that." with the C word.
Don't like it when I hear of others and their loved ones goin' through it.
I keep the prayers up, and ask those in my circles who are inclined to the same
practice to add to the heaven sent petitions.
Folks were kind enough to do that for me. I will keep paying on that debt on behalf of others.
With much gratitude.

On a lighter note, did I tell you guys I have a pistol named Barbara on layway?
And if anyone is interested, it's still raining here.

Think I'll turn in early, and listen to some meditative music.
Like this...

Night-night. Sleep well, Drifters.

P.S. Liquid Mind's music is very good for putting yourself into a very relaxed and peaceful state of mind.
It helped me greatly when I was going through the trials of my sickness a couple of years a go.
I could detach from my pain and frustration when I listened to it, and I feel it helped greatly in my healing.
All of their albums are fantastic. IMHO, anyway.

Cancer is a squatter:
It took up residence, unannounced and uninvited, and after a lengthy battle, was forcibly evicted but not before trashing the place.

Cancer is a thief:
It weakened an already bad heart and robbed me of time. It stole from me mobility and strength along with most of my taste buds and salivary glands.

Cancer is a millstone:
It placed a burden upon me that could only be lifted by faith, family and mirth.

Cancer is a looking glass:
It laid bare all the breaches and bulwarks of my character.

Cancer is humbling:
It replaced my isolationist pride with acceptance of the kindness and mercy of others.

Cancer is Achilles:
A formidable foe it may be....it can, none the less, be vanquished.

Cancer is revelatory:
It gave unconditional love and sacrifice a name: Ruthie.

I am a survivor and blessed beyond measure.

Brigeton, prayers for your SIL and all involved.

In His Name.

Off the beach of Okinawa this date in history on board LST (M) 677 USS Yolo:

May 6, 1945

Another red alert sounded at 0130. At 0222 the ship and shore batteries fired on a plane at 5000 yards. At 0316 shore batteries fired again at a plane not visible to Yolo. It was not until dawn that we secured. GQ sounded again at 0800 and at 0900. The night was bitter cold with a sharp northern wind sweeping over the anchorage. The men were far more interested in getting away from the cold than waiting for an enemy that is not intent on coming.

In spite of the shortage of sleep, the crew serviced all ships. One vessel hit Yolo so hard a hole was punched in her side despite the many fenders Mr. Belmont had out for protection. With so many ships mooring to us bumpings are bound to happen and holes are inevitable. The wind and sea, as well as the skills of the COs, play a part, as well. By last count 200 ships had picked up provisions from Yolo. We have fed 10,000 meals, handled 600 tons of foodstuffs, and issued 400,000 gallons of water and 200,000 gallons of fuel. The crew has gone to GQ 92 times. Ship's bakers baked 13,750 pounds of bread this month.

After lunch, holiday routine was announced. Instead of going to bed the crew asked that a movie be shown. It was a double feature with Andy Hardy. Following the movie the crew was served a delicious meal, after which some napped, others wrote letters, read and visited the ship's store. This is an extremely popular place and well attended by Yolo's officers and crew. I bought a pair of trousers for $2.50, some $2.00 cheaper than the same items in the States. Here, provisioning vessels allow their men to pickup all manner of toilet items, clothes, etc.

Nothing really interesting here.
My wife says I'm in leather land.
I'm designing something that's a bit challenging.
I've been staring, scribblin', cutting out bits of construction paper and staring at them.
Once the pattern's approved, I can start cutting leather and my thought processes can go back to....
Um, er....
Normal?

Been thinking,I know that's dangerous,it seems that almost all of us inhabitants of the drift share the fact that we are survivors of or suffering from some very serious medical issues. Is that why we are here? This drift keeps running its uncharted course but perhaps there is a hand at the tiller. Perhaps we should all post a list of our conditions and meds just like you have to do when you go see your local Doc. I am continually amazed at the depth of the drift. Drift on,don't worry,be happy!
