kwselke 😀

I spent some time this afternoon reading about LST 677/APB-43 Yolo.
History of LST-677/APB-43
Tank Landing Ship LST-677
And referenced links!
I had read previously in years past about The Battle of Okinawa (mainly the ground campaign), kamikazes, and the horrors of serving on ships during this time. But the ships, kamikaze attacks, etc. we're more like reading a historical account of past battles.
The LST 677/APB-43 Yolo accounts are like reading a CS Forrester novel outline.
They could be fleshed out, delving into individual characters, and make a really good novel on their own.
Thank you for presenting this! ☺

Today went pretty much as planned.
Though we did shorten our morning wander in the mountains.
There's been so much rain here that parts of the trail were a wet muddy mess. We went a little over half way then did it again.
At the Y, I did lotsa extra sets then we went for a nice long ride on the stationary bike.

Good thing too.
My wife went and cooked her lasagna and if that wasn't enough, she went and made stuffed shells too.
My diet's taking a hit this weekend.

I'll see if I can get someone to take a picture of Dad and I together tomorrow. He may or may not feel like having his picture taken. I'll ply him with beer.

I have a couple of questions I want to ask him. I have good reason to believe he was in Army ROTC in high school. He entered college prior to US involvement in WW-II. When he was commissioned it was during his 2nd or 3rd year of college while in Naval ROTC. Why the switch from Army to Navy? If what I suspect may be the reason is correct, it is another great story.

I asked my dad what he did in the war and his Commanding Officer told me. That is a simple way of describing it, but it is basically true. I'm happy folks are enjoying and learning, the story is a small but important piece of the puzzle.

My Dad served in the Navy, cause he hated wearing a tie, and the Navy ratings did not wear ties! His rating was Aviation Carpenter!
My FIL was in the Army infantry before WWII, serving in Panama. He was a machine gunner. He got out then, several years later, Pearl Harbor! He knew he did not want to be in the infantry again, so went AAC, and was an armorer! He said it wasn't too bad, was busy working on the ground, repairing .50 bmg. Then he went on the Polesti raid!! 😨 After the war he never would fly again, in any kind of a plane!
All we have is their discharge paperwork. Both had their souvenirs, medals, uniforms, etc. stolen in completely separate incidents involving ex's and stepfathers?
You are very fortunate to have the detailed records you have! Again thanks for sharing!

Multifocal Motor Neuropathy (MMN) Progress and Challenges - GBS/CIDP Foundation International

In my case, the treatment didn't work because it took years to get a diagnosis.
Through personal research, I found that heat helps.
Also, with our family doctors help, we found a combination of meds and supplements that help by increasing peripheral blood flow. Exercise and a proper diet are very important.
So far, I'm still walking without any kind of aid other than boots with good ankle support.
Otherwise, I'm very healthy. My resting heart rate's 53bpm and my resting blood pressure's 87/63.

Busy day exercising........my second amendment rights. See what I did there?

Managed to finally secure the CZ97 I wanted. Now I have a trio of CZ'S...CZ97 .45acp, CZ75B Compact 9mm, and CZ83 .380. Pretty as a picture, which is all I have left after yet another unfortunate boating mishap.

Off on the road to Morocco...actually by sea, but that's not how the song went in that old Hope - Crosby movie I saw when I was a lad. Spending the night in Tangier.

Sorry I haven't posted so many pictures. Have to wait for some down time and access to a real computer. All my pics ar 5mb and the drift makes me resize them.... keep on drifters, keep on.

Tangier is a place i would love to see. I am envious sir.
Have fun and don't worry about posting pictures......
until you get a chance.
We all look forward to seeing them.

Yeah I agree I am very fond of this website. This place has a lot of nice people who talk to each other some are everyday regulars. I've learned a lot on here from the history of Smith & Wessons revolvers and etc. I'm a member of another very popular weapon forum/website and everyday people bash each other, name calling with few choice words and they get away with it and even thread stealing/hi jack. I am happy with this website more than the other website.

Reason why I'm on the other website is because I have a Daniel Defense MK18 10.3 Short Barrel Rifle or SBR for short. I read other reviews and sometimes post other questions about it and answer replies. I'm shocked when some of the other members of that site reply with choice words or say "Google search" Yes, I know about Google search but I would like other opinions or help by other members before using Google search.

All I got to say now is thank you everyone who has helped me learn history and shared stories.

It is a pleasure to hang out with this bunch.
I consider you all friends.

From this day forth it is my intention to
be a better person....and eat cake. I love cake.

Again Thanks, I have been Blessed.

Very nice brace of pistolas there Paul.

I had a CZ rifle (before i foolishly traded it away), that was
the most accurate rimfire i've ever owned. It was chambered
in .17 HMR
