I have to disagree. He added many facets & dimensions to their music & definitely broadened their appeal to wider audiences when they & a lot of "guitar bands" were becoming irrelevant. It seems fashionable now to bash McDonald, but I respect him as a musician & a vocalist. And the Doobie Brothers are not dead!
